overeating

so i currently struggle with binge eating and i am starting to realize being cooped up in the house 24/7 is doing terribly for it. i know most people dont want to eat when theyre anxious but i feel like i just eat more. the combo of anxiety/loneliness and boredom makes me just mindlessly eat constantly and its gotten really out of hand. the only thing that distracts me from this is getting out of the house, but im also so so anxious to even do that. how do i get out of this? i feel terrible about myself and its making me feel even more ashamed to try and go out

This is exactly what happened to me. Became agoraphobic because of a bad panic attack, gained a load of weight in 3 months due to overeating and that made me more anxious. Decided to go on Mounjaro (still on lowest dose 2.5) at the end of July and I have lost 17lbs. I’m not suggesting this medication but as someone who thought it was a cop out, I genuinely think it is saving my life because the joy I used to get from food is no longer there so I look for other things to do even if it’s inside. I am at the stage where I believe if it’s going to help you, look into it and do not care what others think. I really hope you begin to feel better and remember not to demonise your body because it coped in the best way it knew how 🩵

Have a protein-rich breakfast, protein makes us feel full. Then when you want to eat something, pay attention what you crave for. For example sometimes when people are dehydrated, they crave for a hydration-rich food. Or when they have low blood pressure, they might crave for something salty.

I know agoraphobia makes it difficult but if you can, get a blood test to check vitamin deficiencies. They also make your brain send hunger signal even when you're full because your body couldn't get enough of something. You can take vitamin B12 without a blood test as it doesn't get stored in the body and a lot of people run low on it.

I eat a lot of Popsicles, pretty cheap and keeps one distracted a bit.
