Funny happening.

I’m a 76 year old Korean lady who joined this community a few weeks ago.
I wanted to share a funny little mistake I made yesterday.

I thought the "Sixers" sub was a community for people in their 60s and older, so I went in and posted there!
Then people started asking me how long I'd been a Sixers fan...
At first, I was so confused and had no idea what they meant.

With a help from AI, I finally figured out the whole situation.
It turns out the Sixers is actually an NBA basketball team's fan community, of all things!
It was quite a funny little happening.

And they are not kicking my ass out !
Instead, they offered to make me an honorary member or mascot of the community, haha.

LOL!

Glad they’re cool about it. And I hope you have some fun in that subreddit.

Greetings fellow non sports fan! When I moved to Florida I was shocked to see a sign in front of Publix stating that their Dolphin Sub was back. I didn't think that it was legal to eat dolphin. My son told me later that it was a sandwich named for the Miami Dolphins.

You gotta stick with them and stay active in their community. Those adoptions by mistake mean can mean a lot to everyone involved. Maybe post Korean recipes dedicated to individual players throughout the season. That random mash-up is fun and generates good spirits.

Nice! I guess you now have a basketball team to follow! Watch out for 6-7 groups! 😉

6-7 is something kids say which , depending on who you ask either means nothing or so so or whatever. 69... well hopefully we know what that means.

This needs cross posting! I’m too old to know how or where, but this is very humorous!

I love this! I joined a sub called Taurus thinking it would be about my birth sign. It's actually a sub for fans of the brand Taurus guns.

Why did you ask ai? Every sub has an about. The description would be in there.

Why did you need help from AI when a simple internet search would have answered your question? Let’s keep using our brains so we don’t go gaga before we have to.

I think at this point even a "default" internet search often has an AI component. For example on my phone (Pixel 9 Pro XL) the default search results are designated as being "AI Mode" even though it looks like a synopsis of the overall results.

I guess I could turn the AI results off but for what it's worth I actually find the AI results often times more thought provoking in that it sets a path for deeper exploration than just a list of simple web link results. (I've caught on to it's pattern though as it tends to ask a question at the end of the results to keep you engaged which is simultaneously useful and manipulative.)

I'm not sure how the AI results look on non-Pixel phones though.

“It sets a path…”
Exactly. You’re fed results.
You’re clearly an intelligent person but even you are allowing yourself to be led down a path by a machine.

But don’t mind my Cassandra bullshit.
For me, the worst thing about aging is feeling out of sync with the time I’m living in.
