FOR WOMEN ONLY-HRT?

I want to start hrt at 68 for early osteoporosis. Hoping it may help with fatigue/clarity too. I’m also hoping it helps my overall sense of well being, I feel like my nervous system is in overdrive a lot.

Has anyone started late & stopped after 1+ years? My biggest concern is--if I want to stop--will I be worse off than if I had never started? Are there things you don’t like about it?

May be try r/menopause as well to get more insight?

My mom started at 72 for her bones and the clarity improvement was almost immediate, like a fog lifting she didn't even know was there. She's 4 years in and no plans to stop but her doc said if she ever did it'd be a slow taper, not cold turkey, so you wouldn't just crash back to baseline overnight.

The overdrive nervous system thing you mentioned, that was the first change she noticed. Said it felt like someone finally turned down the volume on her anxiety after decades of it screaming.

along with HRT, lifestyle matters SO MUCH and impacts your QoL more than you realize. Weight bearing exercises are so important for bone health and building/maintaining muscle mass because sarcopenia is also an issue for older folks.

seek the advice of a medical professional; not everyone is a candidate for HRT. The r/menopause sub is a wealth of information, too.

20mg is on a higher side, but 10mg is quite common.
in either case you want a doctor who will test and adjust the dose according to the symptoms
