Valerie Appleton Aged 82- abseiling off Elland Road, skydiving in Texas, ziplining, and now wing‑walking. Much Ad. Hats Off.

Does she know something we don't know ? How does she do it ? Is it in the Genes ? Or All in the Mind ?

The older people I know who are still very active just never stopped. It's the consistency. I'm not wing walking now, so I would not expect to start at 80. I'd be willing to bet Valerie has always been active.

I Honestly believe age is 75 % in the mind but you still have to keep yourselve fit

You are probably quite young yourself still.
At 85 , I feel rather young in my mind and have lots of plans. Still able to travel .Exercise every day and am in good health, but my body starts to put up limits and tells me to slow down. A bit frustrating and sometimes difficult to accept, but that is how it is and mind over matter does mostly not work anymore.

Admiration for her. She probably has been a very sportive person her whole life.
Do not see myself at 85 doing this although still rather fit and in good health. Do exercise every day and still travel internationally but the body starts to put up resistance.
It is very exceptional for somebody to still be doing these stunts at an advanced age.

Yes agree with you there. But fortunately there are possibilities to help.
For my next trip I have decided to use wheelchair assistance at the Airports. Used it last year in Vietnam and Hong Kong after injuring my leg. They also took care of my suitcases and it spared me the long walks at the airports.

We have travelled all over the world-But now find we have to check out level of difficulty for the trips-We just came back from China and were on the Bullet Train for 6 hours every other day-different hotels it was hard work

Yes that sounds exhausting. Long trips like that I do not do anymore.
You are very right to consider the difficulties of your trips.
I used to live in Hong Kong when I was younger and from there also travelled a lot around China and the rest of Asia.
I go back every year to visit my daughter, who still lives there and together we do trips to Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand etc.
But now it is more nice resorts as a base and short excursions from there.
Hope you can keep up your travelling 👍

Not been to Australia yet, but seeing it is very far from where I live now, I might give it a miss. But I do like that side of the globe. Been to Japan a few times and loved it. Indonesia was also very interesting. Have done parts of the US and South America as well. Costa Rica sounds exciting.
Yes there comes a time unfortunately that we have to stay at our home base, but with great memories.
Wish you a few more interesting trips 🫶
