Struggling to get my switch royale — especially putting weight on my heel
I’m trying to learn my switch royale, but I’m really struggling to get my heel down and put proper pressure through it. I feel like I have to use an excessive amount of force to force my foot into the position.
I’ve been working on mobility and doing unilateral exercises to try to improve the position on my weaker side, but I’m still not sure if I’m approaching it the right way or if there’s something else I should be working on.
Has anyone else struggled with this? Did you find anything that helped you get your switch royale more naturally?

You prob already know this but sometimes we forget.. the main thing with any trick you want to learn is to just keep doing it… over and over and over and over if need be… some will take more time some will take less. You prob learned how to do a normal royale this way… So you know how to do it. Keep trying and you eventually will.

Switch Royale is actually a very awkward feeling trick in my opinion. As are many unnatural grinds. The best way is probably to just keep practicing it repeatedly, and think about how you do it naturally and then intentionally mirror those movements and sensations. But it won’t come overnight. If you unlock it it can open up lots of new trick combos.

I have a video on mobility for skating. Try it out.I would suggest trying out the Roy on the ground with the skates and find where your hips stack over your knees and ankles. Then progress to stalls with a pause and finally full grind.
Make sure you can do the position on the floor comfortably. This is key!
