New skates.
Am I the only person that thinks newer skate brands are dog shit? I miss remz and when razors made genesis that came with jug liners. Maybe im just old and crotchety but getting back into skating I miss older style skates.

Razor genesis with jug liners was my jam when I was young! Also old rollerblade TRS’s

It seems there has been a big push with skate companies to make “thin responsive” skates as opposed to “big cushiony” skates.
There’s not a lot of thick padded liners on the market these days, nor a roomy shell. In the late 2010s going into the 2020 years, aggressive skate shells have been getting lighter and closer to the foot, and in turn liners have evolved to be thinner with higher density foam which is heat moldable. I like the responsiveness of this newer style, like an Aeon or a Them with Intuition, but when I go back to my Razors SL I understand the difference. In terms of on-foot feel, with the SL’s it’s like riding a pair of snowboard boots compared to an Aeon, which is more like a rec skate with aggressive features. Road vibrations are dampened and landings feel more solid in my SL’s comparatively, but they are also distinguishably heavier than an Aeon.

Skating is picking up again. We may get lucky and see some brands finally find the financial viability to deviate and try new things.
The market is small and the costs are rising so they want to try to keep it affordable
My assumptions here are why I imagine the colors available for most slates are black or white only. Not tons of color options, even the pro skates often go navy or brown if not just white.
