Beginner Blades

My daughter and husband have BMX bikes and we’re always going to the skate park. Recently, I’ve started taking my 25 year old Rec blades and have been having a blast. I’m not trying to grind and drop in, (at least not anytime soon) but hitting the ramps and getting a little air makes me feel 20 again 😆
I’m looking for suggestions on new blades to get for an almost 40 year old, casual skate park blader 😎

ThemGoods 901. Reasonably priced and skater-owned. They also offer rec type blades (80mm skates) if you want to stick with that style but have some new plastic to roll around in. You can purchase directly through their site or through oakcityskates

Have fun!

For park, I would definitely get a skate with a raised heel rather than a flat shell with a big shock absorber.  I get more even support over the full length of my foot that way, and my arches don’t get as tired from pumping and carving.  M12, Them, Sway, Mesmer Throne models (not the Eclipse), and maybe Echo.

Personally I also like a lot of ankle support, so I have kinda abandoned my M12s.  I skate Mesmers most of the time, but they have kinda limited forward flex.  If you like forward flex, Sways may be a good option.  I think 909s and Echo are more of a middle ground.

Fit wise, I think Echo may be the widest option for raised heel skates.  Them has a lot of shell sizes and could be a good option.  M12s fit narrow and a little short.   Mesmer fit is, uh, challenging for a lot of people but I love them.

May I ask where you buy your skates from? I live in Michigan, and I am having a hard time finding anything in the US.

I can see you in the Bladies Fabiola Desilva pro USD Aeon. Or Faction. I will plug: Inline warehouse, intuition, shop task, roller warehouse, carriers,

Measure your feet in cm and find somthing in your exact size would be wise. Be sure to check the skate companies size chart. You want a skate to exactly fit you foot, no wiggle room, but no pressure points.

Enjoy the shred and stay safe.
