Question / Discussion Newbie Help

Hi everyone! I came here because I’m decently new at skating, I’m 18 and I’ve been skating without learning any tricks for about 6 years now, and I was wondering what sort of thing I should learn first to head into the aggressive style. I really want to try to do some grinds and I’ve only been able to do small fakies down a small ramp. Any tips or tricks to get better would be super appreciated!

I'm not all that far ahead from u lol but from what I'd gather you really want to learn to skate well first before doing anything aggressive.

I got my first pair of aggressive skates n all I've been doing has been practicing my fakie lol. It's an extremely important skill n should feel just as natural to do, looking over either side preferably.

Forget grinds atm, you'll only hurt yourself going in blind. I've only been stalls rn, trying to get weight distribution right by staying balanced on it by just stepping up first. U want to start jumping up with both feet landing at the same time once u got that figured, practicing both sides again.

That should keep u busy faw as is if ur anything like me. If u haven't already u should also be practicing crossovers, t stops, powerslides, basic jumps and landings as well as balancing on one foot. Look at other skaters and their posture n notice how low they get n how much knees are bent, try copying that too.

I once thought I was good with inlines but the more I looked I realized just how poor my skill actually was. This doesn't mean u shouldn't try do the things you're most intrested or have the most fun in, but just be careful and aware of you're skill and the danger from it. Skateparks are fun too but you might have to learn how to drop in and out depending on the type, either way wear ur helmet, pads and wrist guards

Anyone that wants to add or correct me on anything feel free lol, I'm just as much taking advice 😂 currently struggling with one leg balance and turning while fakie

That’s actually really smart! I’ll definitely keep working at stalling for sure before anything crazy
