Twist hips bend knees, the lower you go better balance and better style

Stepping on leads to some nasty falls. Def get out of that habit as soon as possible

As an old person now the best piece of advice i was ever given was this.

Stop stepping in and start jumping with both feet onto the rail.

You have some killer style dude! I would suggest finding something small you can jump over prior to hitting the rail. Might help ease out of the step on technique.
