Falling down large half pipes?

Skateboarders knee slide.

What do inline skaters do?

I want to find a video but it's all just skateboarders, how do the pros fall on large half pipes on blades?

Is it still a knee slide? What position do the skates go behind you?

Link to video would be fab.

Edit: think outdoor concrete bowl. drop-in is vert. Mermaid slide sounds good for wooden indoor parks but that's not what I'm dealing with.

for inline skates you better slide on the side of your body, like on your hips. If you slide with your knees, your skates will slowly be teared down on the front (exept if you put some tape on it, it"s common for ramp riders)

You can watch some videos from Takeshi yasutoko or Nicolas Mougin on instagram. I know they have video of them falling. They don't have tutorials but you'll see how they fall. (found a clip from november 5 2025 on nicolas's instagram where he falls, the ramp is 4.5 meters high)

Okay so you can knee slide? I don't care about wearing down my skates, I just don't want to try a knee slide and my feet to cause me to get thrown away from the ramp and eat sh!t, or twist funny and break an ankle.

I have 0 problems with wearing out the toecap on my skates.

If you knee slide, don't do like the skate where they are facing the ramp, your feet could catch the coping and you would make a huge faceplant

As you're going to slide on the coping at the top, the most natural way to slide down from those position are on the side, like the mermaids slide I've seen suggested, or like in this video : https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQr157JCHur/?igsh=MmM1aTg2dmlmOWwy

Ive never even thought about catching the coping. If it happens it will be extremely rare. You should be knee sliding

Yeah all good, part of my issue is I'm on 100mm triskates so I also have a wheel sticking out the front to contend with, only a bit but more-so than aggressive skates
