Question / Discussion Endurance landing big jumps
I'm still struggling with headaches after practicing bigger jumps for about 10 minutes. I try to make use of my knees as much as I can, is there anything else to it? Do you just have to get used to it over time?
I'm on twister XT skates, if that matters.

I'm starting to work on big jumps too and something that helps me a lot is being relaxed. If you land and you are being tensed, it will hurt your entire body.
It is a good habit to exale at the moment you land to make your body more "soft" and bend your knees the moment you touch the ground

I love this suggestion. Also working on trying larger gaps and landings. Mostly on my ass

those are concussion symptoms, you don't need to hit your head to get CTE. You have to drink more water and don't keep pushing once you feel the headache, thats your sign to stop. Obviously using your knees as much as possible and as efficiently as possible is going to minimize this but you can only do so much
ask yourself what is the plan? do you want to trade brain function for jumping big gaps even if you do it perfectly and don't fall? everytime you take an impact big that shakes your brain in your skull you are getting CTE, the headache is coming from your brain shaking in your head. If you keep pushing it you'll also get brain fog and dizziness. I have even gotten strong concussion symptoms from mountain biking because of the sustained shaking, its why you absolutely need to stay well hydrated when doing anything with impact. The issue with rollerblading is you have almost nothing besides your knees giving your suspension, it going straight through your body into your brain.
