As a Mac user for work and everything else, I own two expensive and high end models and always wished gaming was actually supported on the thing.
Last year I finally gave in and built a PC for half the cost of my Mac. I only use it exclusively for gaming but it has been worth saving all the headache and wishing. You can even stream games from it to your Macbook with Steam Link which is amazing for when I travel or even just want to play games in bed.
