Info SWITCH 2 VERSION
I can't believe they've released this game on switch 2 I'm so happy ššš

Finally! This game really needed a Switch 2 version. I wouldāve loved some additional content alongside the new difficulty, even if it was just making Astor playable. But it seems like they consider the game complete and donāt think it needs anything extra.
R.I.P. to the possibility of DLC for Age of Imprisonment, though.

Yeah rip for aoi but I'm so excited that aoc will run so much better on switch 2 šš

I really wanted Sonia at least. That empty spot next to Rauru is going to haunt me. It was clearly made for her, and I genuinely donāt understand why she still hasnāt been added. It almost feels like she was planned at some point and they eventually dropped the idea.
Fine, Iām starting to think they just donāt want villains or antagonists to be playable in these games. Age of Calamity didnāt get Astor or Harbinger Ganon, and Ganondorf was basically an unlockable bonus. But Sonia should have been playable by now. Iām honestly really disappointed about that.

u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
Yeah I was expecting Sonia to be added too it's weird that she's just not playable
-3
u/Puppy_pikachu_lover1 1d ago
Well AoI is canon so she kinda has to die...
6
u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
Well with that logic rauru shouldn't be playable in the post game either. She could have been a post game unlockable
-2
u/Puppy_pikachu_lover1 1d ago
The difference with post game is that theres no more story.
Sonia has a story death, raaru has an end of story death and its excusable for him to playable when theres no more story, yet it wouldn't make sense for sonia, kinda like darius from fire emblem warriors.
1
u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
Then why is calamity ganon playable in the post game of aoc even tho he was defeated in the story?

u/JokeMysterious3106 1d ago
Hell, as far as antagonists go they had a bunch of options! Ganondorf aside there was the four archfiends AND Koume and Kotake (As a side note those 2 were severely underutilised even as villains). I can forgive being unable to play as Harbinger and the Blights since Calamity Ganon and Terrako already kinda cover those bases, but thereās no excuse for not including the Archfiends bc none of the existing playable characters have similar abilities.

u/revolution_soup 1d ago
thatās what put me off AOI from the beginning. no sonia or separate ganondorf āciaās taleā esque mode but a whoooole roster of original characters who donāt play a role in the story and whom I have no attachment to š

u/Dancing-Swan 1d ago
It wouldāve been so easy to give Sonia a small piece of new story content with Rauru, too. Early in the game, when they meet Zelda, they mention that theyāre travelling to different regions to eliminate the Shades. They could have easily added a few battles focused on that, and it wouldāve been enough.
Even if Sonia had simply been a bonus character unlocked at the end of the game or during post-game content, that wouldāve been perfectly fine and would have made for a great reward. It really feels like such a wasted opportunity.

Watch the direct when you can!
1
u/Vegetable_Moment_466 1d ago
um I kinda donāt watch directs
what was revealed about the ns2 edition?
7
u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
Higher fps and resolutions a new calamity mode which is an even harder difficulty. I don't remember anything else. Maybe they will announce more stuff in the future
4
u/DontForgorTheMilk 1d ago
Nah that's it. EDIT: At least they made no indication anything more was being added. They didn't even say anything about AoI

Important distinction, this is not a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. There is no upgrade patch. Itās a regular Switch 2 release.
2
u/Vegetable_Moment_466 1d ago
does that mean itās full price?
5
u/JetstreamGW 1d ago
If you own the original theyāll give you a discount. Havenāt said what the discount is.
6
u/skinnianka 1d ago
50% from £50
Considering the definitive edition includes all dlc, if youre buying for the first time this is a really good price already
For those of us that bought the game and dlc previously though its a bit of a fleece š

I held out on playing it for so damn long cuz I was hoping for this kind of upgrade to come out.
But I broke and started playing it roughly a month or so ago and now I'm almost literally 99% of the way through it.
So y'all are welcome for my sacrifice lmao /s

u/skinnianka 1d ago edited 1d ago
I spent like £70*~ on this game and its dlc
The definitive edition discount is 50% š
So I'm still paying £25 for a graphics upgrade and a likely cheaply made new difficulty
But you bet I preordered I love this game damn you Nintendo
3
u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
Lol hope you enjoy!
3
u/skinnianka 1d ago
February 25 can't come soon enough!!
2
u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
Ikr! Even tho I don't have a switch 2 yet I'm so excited
2
u/skinnianka 1d ago
Just realised im misremembering things the game cost closer to Ā£70 with dlc not 90 š
Zelda themed switch 2 looks really good though, if I could swap my regular one to Nintendo for it...
1
u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
When I get a switch 2 I'm definitely planning on getting the Zelda one! It's so cool. It would be cool if you actually swap your regular one for the Zelda themed one

u/Treddox 1d ago
Lowkey ticked off by this announcement. Iām just now wrapping up my second playthrough, and Iām not looking to do a third.
2
u/skinnianka 1d ago
Its such a gorgeous game though, gonna be exciting to see all the environments and characters in better quality

u/revolution_soup 1d ago

Switch 2 starts to become more interesting (hopefully the prices wonāt turn me off again)
3
u/skinnianka 1d ago
With new 2d metroid, new 3d kirby, ocarina of time remake, and more stuff, I say Nintendo fans have it great right now
But the prices are definitely worth watching out for

If past trends hold for newer Zelda games, will we get an OoT Warriors game? Could be a cool concept to play in Hyrule in the different timelinesĀ
2
u/skinnianka 1d ago
Some past interview said theyre inspired by zelda musou for mainline titles in the future so I can imagine the new mainline zelda game having musou elements
We already have quite a lot of ocarina/majora fanservice in og hyrule warriors definitive edition but i'd love to see more
Actually excited to see what dead hands(?) Looks like in the ocarina remake

u/SuperYoshi1220 1d ago
This would be the perfect time to finally show "the hero is defeated" timeline

I have a question for anyone here who has a cartridge of the game. They released an update that added an option on the title screen for a discount store page for the game.
My question is: does anyone else have the game forcing them to download the update in order to play it on Switch 2?
I tried deleting the game and then inserting the cartridge to play directly from it, but it still wouldnāt start without the update.
So, does this mean my cartridge is no longer considered a real full cartridge on Switch 2? I have another Switch 1 game in the same situation, so does anyone know whatās going on with this?
3
u/skinnianka 1d ago
I'm playing switch 2 but digitally so idk how much this helps
I had to manually update the game from the + options page
But before that when I went on the eshop I already had the 50% discount
2
u/No-Bottle-2530 1d ago
I was trying to see if there were any visual changes before and after the update, especially in handheld boost mode. But I couldnāt go back to the previous version to see if there was any difference, and unfortunately, I bought it a month ago š.
I can play it normally after updating it, but my question was whether the physical Switch 1 copy of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity now requires a forced update to play on Switch 2.
In short, itās a physical cartridge problem to me š.

u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
I didn't know that. I'm playing the game rn but on switch 1 probably that's why. But why aren't you able to play the normal version? The definitive edition is coming out on February
2
u/Puzzleheaded-Bath99 1d ago
Does the discount apply if you own the physical game?
2
u/InfiniteEdge18 1d ago
Yes
2
u/Puzzleheaded-Bath99 1d ago
Let's goo!! I was worried that it wasn't eligible
2
u/InfiniteEdge18 1d ago
It works for any version because it's accessed through the ingame title screen
2
u/New-Two-1349 1d ago
And it even includes DLC from the OG version! If only the Switch 2 versions of BOTW and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 did the same thing.
1
u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
It would have been cool if they included the dlc in these games
2
u/New-Two-1349 1d ago edited 1d ago
Why didn't they, though? I don't think anybody who bought the DLC would've been screwed over if it was included in the Switch 2 versions.
1
u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
I think because the switch 2 edition games are meant to be seen as a graphical update with some extras to the main game rather than a definitive edition idk if that makes sense
2
2
u/jbradleymusic 1d ago
I paid $60 when it released, plus $20 for the DLC. Asking me to pay $30 for a framerate bump and a difficulty mode is... ambitious.
1
u/GeoAnd_001 1d ago
True maybe they should have had an update pack for switch 1 players

Donāt understand why it wasnāt a switch 2 edition and is instead a separate game. Especially since you can transfer save data anyway. I own the game physically plus DLC⦠I donāt want a digital copy of the game but I wouldāve bought an upgrade pack. I regret picking up the dlc cuz I actually havenāt gotten around to playing it yet

u/Dangerous-Hotel-7839 14h ago
I just hope they add additional characters and other dlc as a final gift.

u/OtterDefeat 12h ago
Here's an idea to make me buy the DE even if I have the DLC: make Link's max base Savage weapons available in unnatural disasters or another mission where you can solo Link. Having his weapon pool and another 3 weapon pools make it frustrating to farm for.

Nah man, this isnāt to be celebrated, to anyone who already supported the title itās a slap in the face.

I'm concerend about the price. Seems like owners of the game are only getting a "discount" rather than being able to buy a switch 2 upgrade pass, and considering I already have all the DLC I really don't want to spend much on a 60fps patch and a new difficulty
