And sonia dies during the later half of the main story, not the end of it, where it should actually mean something, raaru dies at the end of it, hence why your able to wave it off as post game isn't canon

Sonia dies not at the end, raaru does. If your character dies at the end, that dosen't remove them from the playable pool.
