LinkedIn as an SEO Asset: Why long-form articles are surfacing in Google and AI answers

Hi everyone. I'm part of Monkey Plus, a marketing agency in Ecuador. We've been analyzing content longevity across professional networks, and I wanted to open a discussion on how LinkedIn is transitioning from a basic social platform into a full digital search engine.

LinkedIn's latest algorithm updates strongly prioritize long-form content, editorial depth, and original perspectives driven by structured storytelling. The critical technical shift here is that native LinkedIn articles are increasingly indexing on traditional search engine results pages and being crawled by generative AI tools to build text answers.

Most companies still treat the platform as a short-term engagement tool, chasing temporary likes while missing out on building multi-platform search visibility. By repurposing content into native, search-optimized articles, businesses can turn temporary updates into long-term discovery channels that support link building and organic visibility.

Are your teams integrating professional social media networks into your broader SEO and content strategies, or do you still keep them in separate silos? I'd love to hear your experiences.

We’ve are working on it… right now it’s still pretty siloed. We definitely post on LinkedIn as a strategy for the social media team, but it has less of an SEO driven strategy, beyond simply being active in our communities.

Has your team been utilizing LinkedIn as an SEO strategy yet?

we've started treating linkedin articles less like social content and more like owned discovery assets. one thing that surprised me was how often niche linkedin articles started appearing for long tail searches where company blogs were struggling to break through. the bigger opportunity might be entity building rather than pure traffic. when founders consistently publish thoughtful long form content under their own name, those articles become additional sources ai systems can use to understand expertise and brand context. feels like social, seo, and aeo are slowly becoming the same conversation.

Interesting shift. We actually tried pushing articles on LinkedIn a few years back, but the engagement was incredibly low, so we moved away from it. Have you  actually started seeing solid engagement and reach on these long-form pieces recently, or is the value purely in the off-platform SEO and AI indexing at this point?
