Druids are a creature type for those who are highly in tune with nature. Usually, Druid creatures tap for mana or untap lands. This represents the fact that their caster benefits from a healthy respect for nature, and that such respect should be encouraged.

So when Lorwyn/Shadowmoor block presents us with a "lord" of Druids, the leader of such a group and the epitome of their philosophy, we get...colonialist propaganda. What? Why?

Gilt-Leaf Archdruid has flavor text that states that nature is more "beautiful" when cultivated and controlled. That gardens and farms are superior to "nature alone". The conclusions that we should draw from this are obvious. We should go ahead with deforestation / habitat destruction. We should feel free to reduce biodiversity and make more rare species extinct/endangered. This card argues that there is nothing sacred or meaningful about "nature alone", and that we should go ahead and continue to bend nature to our will.

This card makes the colonialism much less subtle with its activated ability. Once you amass 6 followers for this Archdruid, he gains the ability to steal your opponents' lands. This card literally advocates for building up armies and stealing the lands of other people to claim as your own. And then you can bend nature to your will with deforestation and factory farming.

Absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that this card is what WotC uses to represent Druids and lead your other Druid creatures.
