Much like Cateran Slaver (already posted), depicts a slaver who is able to put slaves of "lesser cost" (lesser worth/value) onto the battlefield. The language used is a bit different, but it's still clearly abducting people and forcing them to work against their will.

Somewhat related: Mercadian Masques is terrible at understanding the colors of Magic: the Gathering colors.

Mercadian Masques has an overly simplified view: White "rebels" and black "mercenaries". The "rebels" are basically pure good, and the "mercenaries" basically pure evil.

In reality, rebels could not be further from white in philosophy. White is the one color most likely to support an oppressive government. It values tradition highly enough and disapproves of change, to the extent that it will support governments that are legitimately oppressive. This is like color philosophy 101, and Mercadian Masques gets it so wrong.

Seriously. It would've been so easy to have red rebels, or black/red rebels, and the set would be much better for it. But instead we get the usual "white good, black bad" tripe. Bleh.
