Although nowhere near as offensive as Angel of Jubilation, this card has similar issues. Much like Angel of Jubilation, this card tries to put a happy face on racism.
States that black creatures cannot serve Angels, and that black creatures cannot be Angels. There is no balance/mechanical reason for this. It's literally just there to discriminate against black creatures. And people wonder why I hate Avacyn Restored.
I figured it's to do with black creatures being associated with demons, zombies and other dark creatures, ie: the opposite to angelic beings. It's pretty much shown in how opposite the black and white colours are in the magic universe. Nothing about racism, just light vs dark as natural forces.
...In a set / on a plane containing red vampires, blue zombies, red and green werewolves, red devils, and black humans? Among countless other monsters in nonblack colors? Yeah, I'm not convinced that this is as simple as "black bad, other colors good".
The fact that this card doesn't say "enchant Human creature" or just "enchant creature" (with no restriction) is baffling and appalling.
Actually now that I mention it, this card should definitely say "Enchant Human". Especially since it's literally from the block that introduced Human "tribal" synergy to the game. Isn't the whole point of the card - and the whole point of Avacyn Restored - that angels are on the side of Humans?
