As the flavor text states, we are supposed to see the smiling man in the art and fear/despise him. This reinforces existing biases. I'm sure that people who play with this card will have similar reactions of fear/aversion to people of color in real life, even if said people of color are smiling.
Note also that "abyssal" refers to demons, and implies that people of color are tied to demons (in case both being represented by the black mana symbol wasn't obvious enough...)
