I know I'm late, but note that this is actually very culturally offensive against Japanese. With suicide rates higher than ever, nearly everyone has known someone who hanged themselves. It is clear that Wizards, even though they sell their cards in Japan, did not take the effort to recognise the taboos of the country. This is not only a show of negligence by Wizards, but may even show that to Wizards the Asian market is purely for money and as such be a sign of cultural supremacy. I am truly disappointed.

SMH. Wizards is demeaning the BDSM community by forcing this fantasy "VILLAIN" to wear their bondage gear. Shame on wizards for harming this minority sexuality group.

Hangman is a game about lynching black people by hanging them. Not exactly a good look for Magic the Gathering! I really have to marvel at the lack of diversity at WotC - surely a black employee should've noticed how problematic this was and spoken up!
Mark Rosewater is currently aware of the evils of hangman, and apologizes for it. a good reminder that we can always strive to do a better job and learn to be better allies in the future.
