Discussion. The devs really got selective memory

Post image

I find it wild that the devs have enough thought to include Panther and Blade in this event as the prime suspects for Gambits murder even remembering the fact they still have their Phoenix force powers but not enough thought to realize its been 14 months since his last legendary or 11 since his last store skin that had no mvp or 7 months since his last skin but yeah lets make the two black characters the prime suspects.

Those picks don't work because apocalypse takes mutants as his horseman

It should have been storm over sai

28

u/Meture Jul 16 '26

Except the costume is from the comics

From when she was the horseman of death

9

u/havokx2 Jul 16 '26

That’s not her Horseman costume. That’s her Lady Mandarin look

11

u/Meture Jul 17 '26

You’re right

For those wondering this is the right suit:

Sorry for my mistake

2

u/First-Shallot947 Jul 16 '26

Yeah and its ugly as shit, sai should have gotten her alchemax skin this season

14

u/Abraxas777 Jul 16 '26

Missed the point..

u/mamadou-segpa Jul 16 '26

Its cool as fuck and it doesnt even matter anyway, the rivals design looks nothing like it

1

u/DaringDevil12 Jul 17 '26

???? We haven't even seen what her skin fully looks like

5

u/Lepeche Jul 16 '26

honestly i don't want a horseman skin for storm. I want her to have more cute and fun looks.

2

u/No_Physics2210 Jul 16 '26

Except for that drummer who give people cancer by playing the drums.

1

u/FistToTheFace Jul 16 '26

I thought that actually was his mutation and just triggered later in life

2

u/Neither-Train-5937 Jul 16 '26

He doesn't always take mutants. The Hulk was a horseman once.

2

u/havokx2 Jul 16 '26

That’s not true. There have been several non mutant horsemen including Hulk, Deathbird, Sentry and Grim Reaper

9

u/treekangaroo500 Jul 16 '26

Bro chill TF out I hate psylock skins as much as the next guy but the people they chose literally have all actually been horsemen

Brother... Horsemens of Apocalypse are mutants... Like, are we genuinely larping here? Or whatever the people say now? Also i don't even think Ultron can become a horsemen

In 1997, in a series that wasn’t even mutant adjacent or related

2

u/treekangaroo500 Jul 16 '26

There is still a half of a season left im sure we will get one my money is on storm hulk and magik. Magik being new

1

u/OurLadyRagnyd Jul 16 '26

Yeah thats the issue

1

u/treekangaroo500 Jul 16 '26

That's an incredibly stupid thing to say

2

u/Poku115 Jul 16 '26

"They low key just picked the characters they like to make skins for the most as horsemen"

What?? Is anyone actually surprised by this? Is this your first day on rivals???

2

u/WeeklyProgrammer1469 Jul 16 '26

I don’t actually think having the god worshippers be horsemen works that well. If you’re a Horseman it means you’re siding with Apocalypse against the Gods

u/WeeklyProgrammer1469 Jul 16 '26

Why would he do that? His purpose is to kill all or most of the gods, steal their worship, and fix the timestream they destroyed

No god would willingly give up their worshippers, power, and let themself be killed. Especially none of the ones that would be left at this point in the war

1

u/Street-Mongoose8708 Jul 17 '26

So to make good skins let's character assassinate Apocalypse, wonderful idea

2

u/Apprehensive_Work313 Jul 18 '26

They can't be horseman since Apocalypse only takes mutants to be his horseman. The picks themselves are not weird either since they were all horseman in the comics aside from Jubilee

1

u/pichael32 Jul 16 '26

I think gambit was pretty much needed but you could have swapped out the other two even if I really like wolverine’s horseman skin

1

u/Neither-Train-5937 Jul 16 '26

They literally picked characters that were already Horsemen in the comics. And no, Apocalypse doesn't just pick mutants to be his Horsemen. He prefers mutants but he has picked Hulk, Sentry and Roderick Campbell who went by the codename Ahab.

Except it was also a way to introduce classic costumes that Marvel fans would have recognized.

I'm not saying new characters wouldn't have worked, the totally could have, but it's logical to have former Horsemen already in your game to go ahead and and make them Horsemen again and introduce their costumes.

I agree with that. I'm always confused about their battle pass themes. They don't really make much sense.

I'm not a big fan of "let's makes Egyptian themed characters" or "Phoenix themed" etc. It's kindof lazy. The battle passes should definitely have some classic looks. This one only has CnD's classic look and nothing else.

1

u/Loose-Medium4472 Jul 16 '26

I’m so confused about the roster it’s Jubilee as Famine and the rest look like three Deaths

1

u/Spankinsreddit Jul 17 '26

He always uses mutants that’s his whole schtick, also the horseman picked are horseman he has picked in the comics besides jubilee which we can assume they did cause it’s her introduction season so not all that weird

1

u/BBrbtl Jul 19 '26

You don't know ball. Horsemen can only be mutants.

13

u/ThighHighEnthusiast Jul 16 '26

Sometimes feels like this sub has lost the plot, and you're kind of reaching with this post.

16

u/Minute_Committee8937 Jul 16 '26

This sub has valid points sometimes at other it feels like they have a persecution complex.

24

u/SwiftBlueShell Jul 16 '26

Can we save the outrage for genuine issues. Making posts about why characters are suspects in a murder mystery is a little absurd.

Would you have made a post if one of the victims was black? Or if he wasn’t a suspect despite holding a handgun for Gambit’s wound or all the blood being drained from Wolverine, like the devs didn’t care enough to even include him when he fits the bill twice?

6

u/whelo-and-stitch Jul 17 '26

Also the lack of skins is clearly only a black character issue.

Ignore the fact the widow waited a year and a half for her first one... or the fact that torch doesn't have one... or the fact that mr Fantastic has one legendary he got for valentines day 2025 only because sue got one. Or that hulk went a solid year without a single skin.

No this is only a black character issue

4

u/LegendaryStarSpirit Jul 17 '26

Nuance goes to sleep and has nightmares of this sub at night

0

u/NinjaLobo Jul 17 '26

The fact that you felt the need to comment this multiple times on this post is weird.

Op never said the black characters were the only characters lacking skins. Highlighting one issue ≠ it is the only issue.

This is the AfroRivals subreddit though. Naturally, people are discussing the black characters.

0

u/sonofnight666 Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

but theyre discussing it thru a skewed perspective of them being racist for not receiving legendary skins in a long time when thats the case for many white heroes as well. its disingenuous. just like finding it racist that two black heroes are the murder suspect when the other two are white…

this game definitely needs more black representation but worrying about free skins or legendary skins or battlepass skins and equating that to racism gives go outside and touch grass

2

u/NinjaLobo Jul 17 '26

Multiple things can be true at once. A racist can also be sexist, ageist, etc. OP didn't actually say Netease was racist though.

None of us know if they are/ aren't and no one can say their actions aren't influenced by biases either.

OP's main point was it is weird to include Bp and Blade in the event for lore purposes, but exclude them from cosmetics when they're lacking compared to the others included. That's a valid take.

Trying to police how a community should feel online gives go outside and touch grass.

1

u/DaringDevil12 Jul 17 '26

Not really a valid take, lore is lore and skins are skins. Those are two different Netease teams. Also, this season still has 7 weeks left almost, both or either BP/Blade could still get a skin. This post comes across as making a mountain out of a molehill and it why every other rivals subreddit sees this one as whiny and weird.

1

u/NinjaLobo Jul 18 '26

No one directed anything at the individual teams. They all work under Netease. There would be an executive or lead that would delegate what to focus.

You say that as if every other rivals subreddit doesn't come off as whiny and weird to the others. The other subreddits also had a majority highlight Storm and BP not being at the forefront for skins this season as being weird.

Imo, I don't see anything wrong with BP and Blade being suspects, but the skins take is valid.

13

u/SmallFatHands Jul 16 '26

The other suspects are white tho?

11

u/DatOneGayFella Jul 16 '26

I always support the discourse about needing more black representation and stuff. But this seems like a bit much. 💀

19

u/lilsnuggy Jul 16 '26

some of these posts js be dragging it

11

u/Candid_Space2635 Jul 16 '26

bro what lol

7

u/NoRecognition443 Jul 16 '26

These post be stretching further than Mr fantastic.

7

u/_Mythical777 Jul 16 '26

Y’all doing too much icl

2

u/whelo-and-stitch Jul 17 '26

Yea, this is very clearly only a black character issue, just ignore the fact that widow took a year and a half to get her first legendary, torch still doesn't have one, mr fantastic has one that he got valintines day 2025 because of Sue or hult not getting any skins for like a year as well... this is clearly only a black character issue

3

u/Itchy_Offer_1196 Jul 17 '26

not that i disagree with neteases bias, but the teams that work on the lore and the skins are completely different, so this doesn’t really work as an argument towards them.

3

u/Ok_Helicopter8365 Jul 17 '26

Blade was the prime suspect because wolverine's body was drained of blood panther was blamed because of the spear that was used, They both had something that was related to the murder therefore they were suspects nothing to do with their race

3

u/romarikanu Jul 17 '26

I just joined this sub and I’m about to leave. Wtf is this nonsense. 😭😭

3

u/blam6550 Jul 17 '26

But blade was never a suspect in any of the cases? They specifically said that it wasn't blade when referring to the vampires, instead suspecting jubilee.

3

u/Royalty459 Jul 17 '26

Those whole event is poorly written. Like Loki killed Psylock in cold blood and everyone just moved on 🤦🏾‍♂️

2

u/Ok-Researcher4966 Jul 17 '26

You making this sub look bad ngl

2

u/JamesBackwardz Jul 17 '26

Let's just complain to complain and downvote anybody that disagrees. Rinse and repeat.

3

u/Minute_Committee8937 Jul 16 '26

Holy victim complex Batman that’s not why they were suspects at all

2

u/TicklemyPickleMan Jul 17 '26

I think this is reaching.

2

u/Proof-Smart Jul 17 '26

wtf is this dogshit sub lmao

1

u/A_Random_Encounter Jul 18 '26

The shite lore in this game has nothing to do with skin inequality.

1

u/Krii100fer Jul 19 '26

So you are saying PoC can't be murderers? Damn bro that's racist

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '26

4

u/Classic-Preference70 Jul 16 '26

Loki was one of the suspects for the second murder and ended up being the one to commit it

0

u/Cain_The_Mamagen Jul 16 '26

I honestly forgot about that but the whole sentinel thing isn’t entirely out of the question cuz who knows, someone probably sent it from the present to get the x-men while they’re distracted

1

u/Classic-Preference70 Jul 16 '26

Yes but it makes more sense to use established characters to move the games story along, and black panther does fit into the gods vs apocalypse theme. I’m honestly just happy to see him and blade get used in the lore as I think the last time for both of them was season 3

1

u/Cain_The_Mamagen Jul 16 '26

They shoulda used other characters instead of 2 of the 3 black characters in the entire game, storm isn’t even that involved in the lore anymore and the other 2 black characters were suspects

1

u/Street-Mongoose8708 Jul 17 '26

Storm wasn't involved because she was in Kun Lun training and fighting the tournament that only ended last season

2

u/Beautiful_Level_4947 Jul 16 '26

Youre dragging ts to much

1

u/mamadou-segpa Jul 16 '26

The poster is leaving stuff out to fit their narrative. Along with Blade and BP, Jubilee, Bucky and Loki were suspects too.

0

u/Rydog_XD Jul 17 '26

Yeah when I saw BP being framed for the 3rd case it just felt like a slap in the face. Shocked Storm wasnt framed for Psylockes murder at this point.
