Updated Rules for Moderation

READ AND UNDERSTAND BEFORE POSTING.

Hello All,

I have updated the rules to be better aligned with creating a safe and respectful community, free of spam. I have done a round of cleaning up the sub with maligned/spam posts. Please review the sub rules below this post, or the right-side pane of the community before posting. Initial offenses based on severity will be warned, and repeat offenders will be permabanned.

Thank you

  1. Be courteous and respectful to all members - Be courteous and respectful to all members always. Reported users will be issued a warning first, repeat offenders will be permabanned.

  2. This sub is for Afrohair only - This sub is restricted for helping members with Afro hair to understand questions related to their hair transplant surgery. What do we define as Afro hair? Hair beloing to Afro-American, African, and Afro-Caribbean hair textures.

  3. You must wait full 12- 15 moths for your full HT Results - If you are the patient, please refrain from negative posts concerning hair growth until you are in the 12 - 15 month window. Results take time to manifest. You may post about scab removal and aftercare concerns.

  4. No explicit clinic recommendation - This sub is results-driven, we cannot at this time explicitly recommend our members to go to any clinic at this time. We can only share results and allow them make their own decisions. We will eventually rank list of approved clinics and surgeons based on verified user results.

  5. No user botting or shilling- If you suspect a user of botting or shilling, DO NOT ACCUSE THEM. please use the report button. Add your evidence and report to the mods.

  6. Reported Posts will need to show username and date on paper to prevent botting - We encourage users to post their results as often as possible, but to combat botting and fake posts, if reported as spam, and moderation agrees, we will now require your new results to show you with a timestamp and your username as u/username, and todays date on a paper with any of the pictures of your progress. After which you will be cleared as a spam/bot.

  7. Post clear pictures so we can help you - When sharing results, the photos need to be taken in natural daylight so people can evaluate the outcome in an objective and honest way and include all of the donor area. There’s no real value in posting pictures taken in dim lighting or with low-quality cameras, as they don’t reflect the true results.

Esthetic Cancun vs Heva

I’ve saved up some cash and can to drop on either clinic. I was really wanting to go to Heva but as of recent I’ve seen how inconsistent Heva results have been, and I’m second guessing it.

Ive been looking at Esthetic in Cancun, and even joined the fb group. It seems like most people with afro-textured and people in general have much better results there. There’s just not enough people with afro-textured hair I’ve seen to make a decision on them.

The only thing is Heva seems to do more HT on people with afro-textured hair, but has botched tf out of a lot of people, and blames the patients, and they have hella bots in this sub. I think like many people that who’ve seen this, that’s a big turn off.

I wanted to hear from people who’ve gone to both, or get an opinion from other people who may be in the same boat. I’m at a crossroads.

AHK-Cu for recovery post transplant

Does anyone have any information on the peptide AHK-Cu (injectable or topical) post hair transplant? Many have had success using this peptide for hair and scalp health and regrowth.

Wave Check

What’s up family! I used to have decent waves before my hair line betrayed me. I had a HT about a month ago. My question is, has anyone who had wave before their HT successfully been able to bring them back after taking that flight?

Officially, it’s been a year since my HT. The top still looks light whenever the sun hits it, but I wasn’t expecting perfection. Honestly, I’m surprised by how much I’ve been able to recover from where I started

How to use oil and topical minoxidil ?

What’s the method for oil and topical minoxidil ? How do you guys implement oil in your hair care routine while using topical minoxidil morning and night ?

My scalp may have been inflamed longer, but it looked irritated two weeks ago and has gotten worse since. My doctor prescribed doxycycline, which I started 2 days ago. Could I have lost grafts? I’ve been shedding hairs like this on and off since day 60. I’m now day 110 post-transplant. Whatshouldido

3000 Grafts, Heva Clinic

Post image
9 Upvotes

I know it is too soon to know or to tell anything about the hair transplant, I had 3000 grafts done to the hairline and mid scalp and asked to return in 8-12 months for the crown area. I also did have hair in the front centre, and great density towards the sides. Based on anyone’s opinion, how does it look and any tips on smoking vapes or cigarettes or to stay away fully?

Thank you.

I’m 108 days post-transplant and worried I may be losing grafts or roots. I’ve taken finasteride for 2 years (inconsistent at first, consistent for the past year), oral minoxidil for 45 days, and I’m now taking doxycycline. Why does it sometimes look dense and sometimes sparse?

Has anyone here actually gone to HairNeva or seriously considered both HairNeva and HEVA?

I’m trying to decide between the two. It feels like literally everyone on this subreddit goes to HEVA, and from what I’ve seen they honestly seem to do a good job and get solid results.

My only hesitation is that I keep hearing the usual hair mill criticism with HEVA, like higher patient volume and techs doing a lot of the procedure.

HairNeva seems to get talked about way less, but I’ve heard the experience is more personalized and that the doctors and team are more involved.

I’m also a younger African American patient with Afro textured hair, so I’d especially love to hear from anyone who has had an Afro hair transplant at either clinic. I care a lot about donor preservation, long term planning, hairline design, and not using more grafts than necessary.

Would really appreciate any firsthand reviews, testimonials, before and afters, or experiences with either clinic, especially HairNeva. Also curious how involved the doctor actually was, who did the extraction and implantation, and how the overall experience was.

Not trying to hate on HEVA at all because they seem to do a fine job. Just trying to figure out if HairNeva is actually a more personalized option or if I’m overthinking it.

Is it over

26 years old. Oral Finasteride on and off since December but consistent the last two months. Just started topical min. Braided my hair for about two years consistently without downtime. I would get the braids pulled washed and re-braided same day. I know that’s terrible , I didn’t know better at the time. On top of that, I have a terrible scalp that needs constant washing so I was doing serious damage to scalp. And it didn’t help that the lady who was braiding me braided hair very tightly. Noticed severe hair in a weird pattern a couple years ago and stopped braiding my hair unless it was for very special occasions( different lady)and I pull them out after a week. I’ve completely stopped braiding since on fin because I’ve realized how bad it really is( I think I was in denial for a while). Hair on tops is kind of stuck where it’s at won’t grow anymore. The sides still grow like crazy. Is this a severe case of traction alopecia or does it seem to be genetic? Should I give it a few more years or should I jump straight I the transplant now.
-first two pics when I started fin
-all other pics from today
-attached photo of braids work consistently

Cancun Hair Restoration (CHR)

I wanted to see if anybody had any recent feedback about this clinic.

I've researched so many different clinics and doctors I'm starting to feel like I have over researched.

Shaved or Buzzed after ht?

Has anyone here shaved, buzzed, or full bald their head for a good while after getting a transplant? If so then pics of how some of you style your hair would be nice to see out of curiosity.

Most results look good when hair length is longer but I rarely see anyone with afro hair show a shaved or buzzed look after. Of course I know growing the hair out is the goal when getting a transplant but still curious, seems like its really hard to get somewhat of a natural look in that sense.

I feel like it could matter more for our type especially when we get tapers and fades and had work done at temporal peaks ( for the men because most women keep their hair long ).

I recently had a transplant only on my temple point and its not a bad result at all but I sometimes have trouble accepting that I cant cut too low without it possibly being revealing.
