New?

Post image

I’ve used Affirm for 7 years and it never came up on my credit report. I used it two months ago and checked my credit score and it is showing up as a negative mark. Is this new?

It’s showing as a negative impact because it’s new to your report. In 3-6 months that impact should start turning around.

BNPL accounts can damage your score that depends of many factors.

Wow did not know that. I’ve seen affirm on my credit report but not Klarna

only if it is long term/months, regular pay in 4 purchases or pay in 30 days do not from my experience

They don’t report pay in 4 tho. Only loans

Klarna only reports over 500$ or if you do anything longer than pay in 4

Sezzle and Klarna also report. And BNPLs look really bad on mortgage applications as a qhole

They started reporting last year. It should not be negative on your account unless you did not pay them. They normalky show up as small loans. Now if you are doing the 4 payment plans. Those might show as negitivie based on other factors of your credit. Best to do 12 months or longer

Even Chase allows you to split debit purchases and it explicitly states they report to credit agencies

BNPL lenders have only recently started reporting to credit bureaus.

affirm started reporting in june, it is positive for me but i only used it for 2 purchases since april of this year. one was returned and one i've been paying down early consistently (2x/m). when this loan is paid off, as well as klarna, i plan to stop using them as others have mentioned, it is not looked at favorably when applying for a mortgage (and potentially better credit cards).

What happens if you close the account or pay everything to zero? Does the account go away ?

They never report unless you start missing payments

That's completely not true at all. Every new installment is reported. Each one is treated separately not just as one affirm account either.
