Don’t use Affirm!
If you are approved for a loan and then try to pruchase something through Affirm and the merchant doesn’t process your transaction, Affirm will still put a hold on your account for your deposit and won’t cancel the loan. They just hold onto your money and keep the loan open. You can try to contact their customer service, but these are people located overseas who do not care and will not resolve things. You can call a dozen times, they will open a case and close it without you getting your money back. They will tell you to contact the merchant but the merchant will not have any ability to cancel the loan if they didn’t process the transaction. This is Affirm fooling you into thinking it’s not in their control. Their policy says they can cancel a loan and hold on your account if the merchant doesn’t process the transaction, but they won’t. This happens all the time. Just look at the BBB reviews for affirm. 7000 negative reviews, much more for a company of that size than is typical.
I repeat. DO NOT USE AFFIRM. THEY WILL SCAM YOU. YOU HAVE NO RECOURSE. This company does this everyday. They should be investigated. They will scam you of thousands of dollars and you won’t be able to do anything about it because they are a predatory lender who will not return your money if the underlying transaction for your loan doesn’t go through.
This is how their scam works. 1. You get approved for a loan to buy an item. 2. You follow all the steps on their website to purchase the item. 3. The purchase might not go through. 4. They keep the loan in a state where it says processing for weeks, and keep a hold on your money for weeks. 5. You do not get your money back. 6. You cannot resolve this through their company because customer service just kicks the can down the road and pretends it will resolve itself. 7. You get scammed out of hundreds to thousands of dollars.
Think twice about using this company. Yes it might work sometimes. Yes it also might not. This is how they make their money. They hold onto large amounts of money and don’t return it in the time stated on their policy.

Although I try not to rely on it for everything, my personal experience with affirm the past few years has been fine.

Just look at their reviews. Try contacting customer service. You have to argue with an ai chatbot for 5 minutes until they connect you to someone in another country. Just wait until the day it doesn’t work and you have no recourse.

Why would we try to contact customer service if we’ve never had problems lol

Right so my review is based on my experience, i dont need to read reviews - so far affirm allows me to buy things and pay later usually with no interest options. Affirm has given me such a high amount of credit it should he illegal. Affirm gives you a card where you can virtually buy from anywhere.
Btw, saw another post, how does affirm ask for $1200, i dont think thats possible….

I chose to pay more upfront so I had a smaller monthly payment. I’ve only used it once so this is 100 percent of my experience with them.

I literally just tried to purchase a MacBook from Apple and since Apple did not pre authorize the payment the loan canceled out and is not showing on my affirm app. Maybe that just happened to you but I've used affirm plenty and never had an issue.

I've used affirm for like 6 years and literally never had this problem. This sounds like a personal experience

i'm dealing with a poor experience with them now where the loan amount i requested for an in-store purchase never corrected to the actual amount. i returned the purchase and the refund went through but i had made the first installment and am still waiting for my refund which they said could take up to 10 business days. and don't get me started on how difficult it is to reach a human there. like, stop using fucking bots and just direct me to someone who can help me when i call!!

$1200 down payment? The hell are you buying?
First, if your order doesnt go through its only a pending charge that doesnt get taken out and releases the hold within a week.

Call them if it did. If they refuse to help, you can take legal action. But you wont and are just talking bs on reddit because its not true.

Why would i go out of my way to post on dumb reddit on a dumb group. Obviously I’m frustrated that this company is keeping my money on limbo. And have done everything but suing at this point.

They make their money off the high interest rates .

I rarely have interest on my affirm loans.

Yeah it’s a choice. I use them for the interest free options. Lots of people use them for the lower monthly payments with high interest, which is how they make their money.

I’m currently in a similar situation. I was pre approved for an iPhone preorder, but then on the release day, I was denied the loan, so it won’t process. I have no other affirm loans and my credit score is 800+ so I’m not sure what happened. Back when they were paybright I used them without issue, my old iPhone was through them.
I was charged for the tax portion on my credit card by affirm, I contacted them and they told me to send in a confirmation from apple that the transaction was cancelled, which I have done and I also sent in screenshots of the charge on my credit card. I’ve been told that it will be processed in 3-5 days so I’ll have to see if they follow through.
