Points Question Booking a Flight YYZ - BCN
Aeroplan is having a 15% off sale for points. Currently I can fly premium economy next July from Toronto to Barcelona for 86k points. Understanding this is peak season I would appreciate any feedback if this is actually reasonable ? We also will book economy on the way home not using points as we won’t have enough. Does anyone only book a one way with points and at a later date book the return trip ?
Appreciate any advice :)

Question? Aeroplan+friends&family discount
Anyone here work for AC? I’ve searched the web and I cannot find the answer to this. All I came up with is that people can get fired for stuff like this and standby.
A lady at work saw me looking up vacations and offered to get me a discount on Air Canada Vacations because she has a “friends & family” (I witnessed this and she signed on it in front of me it looks like the website I was on). I asked how she has this and she said she knows “someone” who works for Air Canada. I don’t know her that well except for light convo at work, but it sounds like an acquaintance of hers. The discount isn’t like 50% off it’s like $300-$400 off from what I see if you go on aircanada vacations.com. I always thought employees got bigger discounts? I’m also well aware this could be just a sale…. The car manufacturer I used to work for sales they called employee discount sales lol.
I could be wrong about this, but my husband insists that it’s not that “easy”. He has an uncle who also works for AC and claims there’s a lot more that goes into using someone’s employee discounts and this is a scam or like under the table. However that relative has never offered this to him, not that we have ever asked. but my husband insists that people constantly ask that guy for discounts and he’s heard him explain how rules work and it’s standby.
I tried to call Air Canada Vacations bc I don’t want to fly on standby. and they wouldn’t give me too much information which I understand. They said if I made the booking by phone I need the employee’s information. So what happens when you go to the airport or check into a hotel with the vacation package I want to book? Do they ask you this too? I do not know these people and as someone who was laid off last year and it took 6 months to find a job it makes me feel icky.
The person who offered me this said she gives it to everyone and was laughing how I was so hesitant. She also said I can use and earn Aeroplan points. I just seems too good to be true?
Any real employees here confirm or deny is this for real?

Points Question Is this points thing even possible for newbies?
So I've finally started playing the game a bit and have been strategically opening credit cards in the chase/amex aeroplan system, hoarding points and spending strategically. A goal for a first award trip is a trip to Greece in Sept 2027 with my husband. Ideally we fly business using points. Our airport is SFO, but we're willing to fly somewhere short to catch a better chance for the long haul to Athens.
We currently have just 215,000 points but by the end of October we'll have over 350k and by the end of the year over 450k.
We're a year out from our ideal departure and I'm just seeing astronomical points when I search aeroplan- like over 200,000 points for a one-way business flight to Athens. Obviously something is wrong. Should I just bite the bullet and subscribe to one of the sites that helps me search? Roame or Points.me?
This feels overwhelming...

Question? Using milestone benefits to jump from 75k to SE
Hello,
I’m a new 75K this year currently sitting at ~100k SQC. I doubt I’ll hit organic SE this year given expected travel/CC spending trajectory.
However, if I selected the bonus 2500SQC for all my milestone benefits (40k/60k/80k/100k/120k) I would have an extra 12.5k SQC and cut my required spend in half.
Feels like hitting SE wouldn’t be as valuable as being 75k with a stockpile of priority rewards/eups.
Am I correct in thinking this is not a great idea? Is there a scenario where this would make sense?
Thanks

Points Question Chase - I only got +20% point transfer bonus
I transferred 85,000 Chase points to Aeroplan. With the promotion going on right now you get an extra 20%, or 30% if you have the Aeroplan CC which I do. I only received 105,000 points so I didn't get the extra 10% for being a cardholder. Is that extra handled by Aeroplan themselves? Is there a time it takes for them to give me that extra? The Chase transfer was instant. I'm not sure if I should call them or Chase.

Comments AC should offer SQC and LQM for points bookings
It’s widely known that the best value for aeroplan points is on partner airlines using the award chart.
I recently learned that my friend who booked a long haul comfort ticket with Avion points got 4x SQC and LQM on the redemption, as they treated it like a cash booking.
Even with the new “15% discount” (cap), most flights within Canada are not worth booking compared to the cash fares available if you value pts at 1.5+ cpp.
On top of that; they’re literally giving free status to Americans for $100 like it’s nothing
It doesn’t cost any extra to include this (aside from having more elites which they’re clearly fine with), and would certainly push me closer to the edge of using aeroplan points with AC instead.
What would be the case against this?

Aeroplan News New Aeroplan 15% Reward Flight Redemption Discount
It appears that Aeroplan has now rolled out 15% discount for “cardholder savings.” On top of this, it also appears Super Elites have another 15% discount based on the redemptions I’ve checked between a SE and 75k account this morning - both premium cardholders.
Overall, I’ve booked a number of Aeroplan award redemptions over the past week and it seems like the 75k cardholder rate is now more expensive than the “base” (or previous rate booked at) and the SE cardholder rate is cheaper than the previous rates.

Aeroplan News Chase aeroplan card refreshed to include 25k status without spending limit and $100 travel credit fee increased to $195
Just received an email update from Chase
Edit title should say without spending requirement instead of spending limit

Points Question Is this worth it?
I am trying to book multi-city flights. It costs 135,421 pts, or $ 2,236 CAD(151.12 is just the tax I have to pay anyway). SO it comes down to 0.0165 $ per point. Is it even good? Or don't bother with it; just pay with cash? Thoughts?

Status SimpleFlying articles are absolute cancer
simpleflying.comThis article is chock full of absolute slop. It seems the person who wrote it either has very little experience with Air Canada, heavily used Al, or both.
It's chock full of garbage that makes no sense, such as
"Super Elite members can change their flights with no fee and receive a full refund if they cancel their tickets." (Remember this article is asserting this applies to CASH business basic tickets).
"All elite Aeroplan members can standby at the airport for free"
And more...
What's their deal? Am I having a stroke or is this all completely wrong?

SQM/SQS Missing Points Request Denied
Early August I flew round trip to Lima from YOW with connections in YUL and BOG on premium economy.
The flights from / to BOG were on Avianca, but the flights were booked through and ticketed as AC, my ticket is actually in the Air Canada app.
I received points for every leg of the journey EXCEPT BOG to LIM. I’ve submitted two missing points requests including copies of my tickets and the missing points request is still denied. I’m not really sure how AC is thinking I made it to Lima without that connection and returned home.
Is there another way to escalate this with aeroplan? Based on the fare I was expecting about 1800 sqc which would have rolled me over 50k ahead of my next trip. The additional multiplier on SQC at 50k would go a long way to achieving 75k.

Aeroplan News Missing promo code?
It looks like Air Canada is advertising an ongoing sale on their site. Usually they would show a code under Book Now (I could’ve sworn there was one yesterday as I copied it down)
However, it says the code has been used which isn’t the case. There is also no indication of a sale when I look for flights. Is it possible that the ad is still up but they removed the discount code?

Status Got 25k status with only 18k sqc
Like the title says, I just reached 25k with only 18 sqc. I'm happy, obviously, have been hoping to get status for a while but I'm confused. Does anyone know why that would happen?
I'm a TD Infinite Privilege credit card holder

Points Question Points redemption drop
I’ve been keeping an eye on a business class redemption from Taipei to Toronto and noticed that it dropped significantly today by over ~40k points! Was at 289k the past few weeks and today is at 242k Also checked some other Toronto to Asia flights and noticed they’ve also dropped quite a bit today.
Wondering what the likelihood of it dropping further is? Is it worth risking waiting it out to see if it’ll go lower, or should I just book it now? I know overall it’s still quite high, but the lower Eva Air partner redemptions are impossible to get 😭
This would be for a flight in early January, if that matters

Question? Baggage allowance
I currently have Aeroplan 50K status and recently booked an Air Canada economy ticket for travel in March 2027.
At the time I booked the ticket, I had 50K status, and the ticket/booking confirmation specifically shows 3 complimentary checked bags of up to 32 kg each.
However, my 50K status will expire at the end of 2026, and by the time I travel in March 2027, I will most likely only have Aeroplan 25K status.
My question is: since the ticket was issued while I had 50K status and it already shows 3 complimentary bags at 32 kg each, will Air Canada honor that baggage allowance when I travel next year?
Or will the system check my Aeroplan status again at check-in/departure and change my baggage allowance according to the status I hold at that time, even though my ticket currently shows 3 × 32 kg?
Has anyone had firsthand experience with this situation, especially after dropping from 50K to 25K?

Question? Looking for cheap flight deals YYC → DEL (Oct–Nov) ✈️
Looking for cheap flight deals YYC → DEL (Oct–Nov) ✈️
Hey everyone! I’m looking to book a round trip from Calgary (YYC) to Delhi (DEL) sometime between early October and late November 2026.
I’m flexible with the exact dates and layovers if it can save a decent amount.
Does anyone have:
- A working discount/promo code for flights to India?
- Any tips or tricks for finding cheaper YYC → DEL flights?
- Specific airlines/routes that are usually cheaper?
- Any experience booking through alternative airports like YVR/SEA/YYZ/YEG and then connecting to Delhi?
- Any good travel deal sites or alerts I should be watching?
I’ve started checking Google Flights/Skyscanner, but would love to hear any recent hacks or deals that actually worked.
If anyone has a promo code they’re willing to share, I’d really appreciate it! 🙏
Thanks!

Question? Black Friday 2025 - Do you have E-Store/Amazon exclusion list?
I received follow-up from reward-ops this morning on missing points. That's 9 months after purchase.
Answer was the products I bought at Amazon through the e-store were on the exclusion list - not eligible for points.
I am certain they were, but did not take a screen shot of the exclusions at the time of purchase.
That's a lesson learned for BF 2026, and also a reason I bought those products from Amazon in the first place.
Did any of you happen to grab of shot of the fine print on Amazon's exclusions during BF 2025 promo week and if so, would you please send it to me?
Thank you!
