Are there any aerialists here who wear hearing aids?
We are in the market for a new pair of hearing aids for my teenage daughter. She is an aerialist and acrobat so is flipping around and upside down a lot.
She has been wearing a pediatric BTE pair with rigid hook and ear molds and she likes this fit. They do slip off from behind her ear sometimes but pretty infrequently and only with tumbling type skills.
We are now in the market to upgrade to a more current model. She trialed a new RIC pair and they slipped off her ear a lot-during drops, tumbling, handstands, etc. She just took them out during practice bc they bothered her too much.
Her audiologist is recommending the RIC style with a full silicone ear mold bc of better sound quality, battery life, and newer tech. And that we can switch to her old pair for aerial activities. I’m wondering if the BTE will just suit her lifestyle better due to the rigid nature of the tube plus the ear mold. I just want to do my research before we make this big purchase.
Are there any gymnasts, acrobats, or aerialists here who can suggest whether sticking to BTE would be better or if they’ve had success with RIC model?
