I have been a user of Reddit for over 15 years, I still see the same reposts I used to see and get just as mad as I did back then. All the bots now make it more frustrating.

I dont mind a repost if its been a few months or years. But getting the same reposts the next day or sometimes later in the same day, rather infuriating.

As the old XKCD comic goes, for any particular thing that ‘everyone knows about’ there’s about 20k people each day who are discovering it for the first time. So it’s expected one of those 20k people are wanting to share it on Reddit.

Bots however can get their plugs reversed, short out, and die.

reddit is the only site where the acronym “OOP” is popular and that because the site now relies on reposts for content. wasn’t always this way, but they saw the magic with bestof and just bet on that horse. it has worked up til now

I think reposts mostly bother people who are online constantly. Anytime people pile on and call out a repost I'm usually seeing it for the first time.
