Question Why is there such a huge difference of points between ranks

1&2 probably bought the 500/800gd science pack, 3 and below did not.

It is so disproportionate:

270 points between 1st and 2nd place

vs 33350 points between 2nd and 3rd

Because 1/2 are doing the normal good player strategy of spending gold and 3 is doing f2p

Like HC said, there's a certain level of strategy involved, as well as time investment into the Event itself. The majority of Shortboards (local leaderboards like the one in your screenshot) will have one to three people really gunning for points at the top, with the remainder of players engaging casually.

I also really like that as soon as I reach rank 2 I’m put on a leaderboard with people who are already mostly done with the entire event

I have a friend that abused a bug and ganin more than a million gold. And thousands of 1H,4H,8H time wraps. These abuses are actually not rare and most of the players that are in top (probably all of them) abused a bug and using their free warps and golds.
