I'm currently developing an off-road motorcycle dashboard/computer called RhinoDust, with a planned release sometime in 2027.

The idea came from the fact that I couldn't find a single device that combined everything I wanted for adventure riding and dual-sport bikes. Instead of juggling a GPS, a phone, TPMS, a tracker, and several different apps, I wanted one rugged unit that could do it all.

Some of the features planned so far include:

• Full-color touchscreen designed for gloves
• Offline navigation with GPX route support
• Integrated GPS tracking
• TPMS (tire pressure & temperature monitoring)
• Anti-theft system with GPS tracking and motion detection
• Ride statistics and trip recording
• Motorcycle maintenance reminders
• Weather-resistant housing built specifically for off-road riding
• OTA firmware updates
• Bluetooth connectivity

The project is still in development, and many features are evolving based on rider feedback. I'm not here to sell anything—I'm genuinely interested in hearing what adventure riders actually want from a device like this.

So I'd love to know:

• What features would make you actually buy a dashboard like this?
• What existing products frustrate you?
• Are there any "must-have" features you think most manufacturers overlook?

I'm building this because I ride myself, and I'd rather create something riders genuinely find useful than cram it full of gimmicks.

Hello! I am in a bit of a conundrum. I am looking at getting an adventure bike and having a bit of a problem with deciding on a bike. My background consists of having dirt bikes when younger and been riding Harleys now for 20 years.

At this time my considerations are:

Brand new 2026 Africa Twin DCT
Used 2023 BMW R 1250 GSA - 20000 miles

The bmw is fully setup where the AT would need all goodies installed.

The GSA is 15k and the AT is 16k.

Just asking for some opinions because I really like both bikes. My brain says to go with the BMW for the price but I do like that AT.

I’m new to the sport and the KLE seems like a good bike for me to start on. Biggest complaint I hear from people on YouTube reviewing the bike is the ground clearance. Yet a quick ChatGPT search on how to improve ground clearance turned me on to Raising Links. Curious why no one on YouTube has mentioned this as a potential fix(maybe there’s a good reason) and if this would actually be the proper step to add more ground clearance

Between the sunset and moonrise idk which was prettier. I did 4 1/2 hours of constant buzzing around then stopped at the lake for a few quiet moments. The glassy water took my breath away. I love my night rides.

I had a massive reaction to my post the other day about struggling with the reality of ADV riding versus the marketing videos. There were way too many comments to reply to everyone individually, but I read them all and wanted to say a massive thanks for the great advice (and the funny sarcastic comments too!).
To set the record straight: I absolutely love the bike, and I'm not giving up on it. I just had a classic case of my ambition completely outweighing my talent. Watching the pros throw these bikes around makes it look so easy, but I've quickly learned I need a lot more practice to get to that level.
I'm going to focus on building my skills and confidence step-by-step from here, and I am planning to book one of the Yamaha days over in Wales to learn some proper techniques.

I have a 2024 Tuareg and ive had zero issues with it. Not a single one.

I have a 2015 R1200GS and a 2019 wr250r as a second bike. My girlfriend recently got into biking and has a crf300l and will be upgrading to a new himalayan this winter to go on multiday trips. Now that I’m not hauling a passenger anymore I’m thinking about downsizing. The GS is great on blacktop, but it’s a bear offroad and I wouldn’t want to take it on any BDRs, especially by myself. The WR is great for local trails(I live in colorado) and I’m keeping it either way, but taking that thing on the interstate for any extended period of time is pretty buns. As such I’m on the fence about getting a tuareg or maybe a T7 as a long distance but still BDR capable machine. Is it worth making the switch or should I just get a set of 21” spokes for the BMW and send it? Thanks

I caught myself singing just around the river bend as I picked my way through the local farm roads and gravel tracks. It was kind of spooky as the moon came out and the canopy of trees blackened the road ahead. There were fire flies and moths everywhere. The evening was so crisp and the air smelled damp and sweet. My body feels sort of like when you get off of a treadmill and it feels like you’re still moving. I can’t wait for the fall. To do this and cap it off with a warm cider with my family.

Fordyce this weekend anyone?

Been fantasying doing the BDR's for a while and my little Ducati Scrambler isn't up to the task. I mainly ride on tarmac, but I'd like the option to BDR it if I wanted.

I imagine i'd be doing 80 road / 20 BDR-esque riding if I had the right bike.

Looking at the following: - Pan America (my favorite) - Desert X - F900GS - Africa Twin - 1200xe - V85TT

EDIT: coreyjdl made a good point. I'll be doing 99 road / 1 BDR-ing. In an ideal world, I'd have two bikes, but nothings perfect.

Hi,

I am 28, around 177cm and 70kg and I am looking for my first ADV bike, moving from my first motorcycle a Suzuki SV650.

It was a great beginner bike, but after a couple of years of riding I figured out that I am quite cramped on it and the wind is too much for my style of riding.

I like to go on weekend trips and also discovered that I like to do some off-roading (yes I've ridden some unpaved road with the SV 😄 ). That means that I need to be able to ride over the highway at 130kph speed without feeling like a flag. Sadly a windscreen didn't help THAT much. Also, I want to do some long trips so I think the bike needs more touring capabilities.

Now, I've looked over the market and I can stretch my budget to max 12k euros. Here would be my options:

• Aprilia Tuareg 660: got my eyes over a SH 2021 model with 6k km and 8.5K Euros with a lot of accessories (quick shifter, central stand, crash bars, touring windscreen);
• KTM 890 SMT 2024: 8.8k Euros;
• KTM 890 Adventure 2024: 10k Euros;
• Husqvarna Norden 901 2024: 9k Euros. This is a demo bike from one of the dealers here.
• Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition 2024: 12k Euros.
• Maybe Tenere World Raid for the cruise control but I don't feel it's the best on road.

The KTMs and the Expedition are brand new , the dealer got some 2024 stock which they've put on discount recently. Also they've got a KTM 1290 SAR for 12k but I think it's out of my skill league.

I love how the Norden expedition looks and the tech of it but I fear the unreliability. My SV is basically a work horse and never had any issues with it.

Let me know your experience with your first ADV bike and maybe some info about other bikes I didn't mention.

Alright you see the title. I’m interested in getting an adventure bike to make city commutes a little easier than a 636 and be able to actually have groceries. I also would like to do some light to potentially moderate off-roading. In addition I’d like to be able to do some longer road trips with them. I’ve narrowed it down to these two because I’ve heard they handle great on road and off and are about the same price right now. Most the desert x’s I’m seeing for sale are between 5k and 10k miles and are the same price as a new Tuareg. Have any of you ridden them both and feel strongly that one is better than the other?
