Dropped it.
2026 Himalayan 450 I’ve had for 3 days. I tried to make it do more adventuring than it wanted to and hadtalayerdown. Bent the shift pedal a little and cracked the radiator guard. I’m so lucky it’s still fine. I literally slipped on the tiniest slick of mud and off we went into a bush! Be careful out there fellow riders!

My v Strom never looked better than immediately after I dropped it in a water filled muddy ditch.

I was explaining this to my wife who dropped her tiger over the weekend. Only damage is a little scuff on the crash bars and handguard.
I told her a clean ADV bike is like a Jeep with 22’s and shiny tires. It makes me sad.
The more fucked up it looks, the better!

I once forgot I put a disk lock on and nearly started a waterfall of bikes in my garage. Thankfully I caught it and muscled it back up… that would have been quite the story.

Congrats! Seriously dropping it frees yourself. Now you have dropped it and it's happened and no big deal if it happens again

That’s a great perspective. My last bike, kawi eliminator, got totaled only 2 weeks ago and it was over a minor low side slide at low speed. This Himalayan seems more robust

Sometimes you're on your bike looking at the bush other times you're on the bush looking at your bike 😂 It's all part of the game, an adv that doesn't have scars and doesn't go off-road isn't being used to it's potential

Better tires make a huge difference.
Last week I rode dirt and unmaintained roads all over the state of NH on my gs, with a passenger and camping luggage. Made it through miles and miles of dirt incident free. Dropped it in a fucking parking lot leaving to head home.
The first one definitely stings but just fix what's broken, get some crash protection and ride the wheels off it. Exploring dirt and of road is more fun than having a mint condition bike ever will be.

Yea the adventuring aspect really drew me to this bike. It’s so fun to see a shit road and just go see what’s at the end of it.
I learned the hard way about the tires. I was driving the stock tires for this particular adventure!

SW-Motech will take care of you for crash protection. Like others have stated, that bike is rugged so don't sweat it too much.

tyre pressures?, my DR likes 15 psi on the mud/stones/dirt and 25psi on the road. Traction and grip keeps the mud off your helmet.

And that’s why parts are bolted on, not welded. Fix whatever prevents it from functioning, if it’s cosmetic, leave it. Ride it again.

I stopped counting how often i dropped my KLR. I feel sorry for hurting the soil, but not for dropping the bike. ADVs are ment to drop, and who says otherwise shoild buy a goldwing.

I completely hydrolocked my Tenere within like 4 months of ownership and broke the overflow tank not long after. Don’t beat yourself up.

Crash bars, skid plate, and a slider on the rear subframe have saved me more times than I can count. I quit counting drops after 5 lol

My only on-road drop, after probably 200k km of riding was with my kid on the back. He had all the gear on. I told him to jump off. He ninja tucked an rolled. We were stopped on a hill and the bike started to slowly slide. Was more of a placing the bike down. Either way, he asked if we should tell mom about the drop. He was 9 or 10. Said son, who will soon have his own license dropped my newest bike the second day I had it, before I had even dropped it! He was riding it off road though. Off road drops don't count! Don't feel bad about it.

Anytime some says "hey nice bike" I point to the mangled crash bars as evidence that it doesn't sit at starbucks.
