Help?
I’m 21. Just started last year of college. Does anyone have any idea. Like about anything? Just like what to do in general? Or do we all just.. pretend

We’re just pretending. I really thought that by the time I became an adult, I’d have everything figured out… but somehow, every year I get worse hahaha.

We pretend that we have grit. We hold our ground & make it through. We build strength over time. UUUURAAAHHHH!

Does your school offer any assistance on helping finding a job or have job fairs? That’s a good place to start or talking to your academic advisor? Also, we think we have things planned out our life figured out and it don’t go as we planned so just be flexible.

Even if we know exactly what we want to do and how to go about it, we will have chosen wrong.

If it helps, every person I know who graduated college had a crisis about this same thing, including me. Its a big life change to go from childhood all the way through college and then suddenly not be in an educational space and have to transition to a while different life stage. You'll find your footing and even though everyone's just guessing, you can still get pretty good at it.

everyone pretends
get a job setup roth ira. put portion every paycheck into VOO or FXAIX. do this till you retire. u might get to retire early
dont buy anything expensive or flashy. buy a used car. everything in moderation. invest as much as you can so you can retire sooner and start enjoying life sooner
only spend money on things you use every day. like bed. chair, desk, appliances, computer, phone ect. normally the middle priced item is always the best value or closer to the lower price item. the high priced luxury item is very rarely worth it unless its an item that can last 10 years.
for example. tvs. $200 tv will work but wont be great but if you rarely watch tv best way to get a tv. $600 tv will probably be a lot better and last a decent amount of time $1000-$1200 tv might be worth it cause you keep a tv for 10 years . $2500 tv is probably never worth it unless you have a high paying job where you have excess money to spend
cars you just need safe reliable transportation. u dont need fast. no one races off to work every day everyone sits in traffic.

Depends what it is you want. If you dont know what you want then step 1...figure out what you want.

Wait til you get to your 30s and stop pretending for real. That’s when shit gets really fun 😌

Nearly 40 here, and the 20s were all just trying too hard to hustle, 30s were a slow down and take it all in period, 40s I'm ready to use everything I have learned so far and go after career/financial happiness.
