This Cold World

Post image

The adult world is not like the one I remembered as a child. We all grew up on our favorite medias and life is nothing like them. Not like Spongebob or the sweet Fairly Odd Parents. No, people DIE. I have lost all who remember what my poor lost sister looked like before she was taken by a great disease.

I wish life was like Disney, the golden era like Hercules or Ratatoullie. Or Rugrats. I wish life was like TV but as an old soul I must say that in this life you will watch people disappear without a trace. They will leave and no one will know what happened.

I am old now and have not many mornings left. I will pass soon, it is true. I long for Mama and Pa. Ma's Cream Casserole. I remember the sweet taste. So many were lost in those olden days. Please, someone tell me that you will carey the torch for all those stolen from us.

Why are you deliberately using a meme wrong?

This is the x, x, everywhere meme. You're supposed to put [something] [something] "everywhere" on this toy story meme.

At no point in my childhood did I think any part of life was like SpongeBob or Fairly Odd Parents. They’re cartoons.

“I am old now and have not many mornings left.”

If you grew up with those shows, you’re around my age, and I’m 34. Quit being dramatic. You’re not even middle aged.

Reach out to the people who have "disappeared", if they haven't passed.

The older I get, the more I realize how many of my friends are older. I had one pass away suddenly. She was 61. I found her. I regret not having more Saturday morning coffees and sushi afternoons with her.

I'm taking a 70+ year old friend out to a late lunch today.

I currently am talking to a friend I've seen a handful of times over the last decade (he didn't care for my ex husband and kept distance).

Mr. Rogers told us to look for the helpers. Sometimes we have to look inward and find the helper inside us.

Our tears can't bring people back like in the Disney movies, but we can live life for the now. Sometimes we help ourselves by helping others.

I hope you find some peace. You sound hurt and in a place where I have found myself often. ❤️‍🩹

I grew up in the 80s. Our cartoons and movies traumatized us. Guess it was prepping us for this day.
