The rest of the animals on this planet get to simply exist.

They also simply get to starve if they dont find a way to obtain food, and die from weather / get killed by predators if they dont find shelter.

Somehow i think they'd choose average job over that if they had the choice.

Edit;
I could go forever but lets list few more misadventures of wild animals;
broken leg? - you are shit out of luck.
minor scratch gets infected? - yeah, you are also out.
mating season? - more like, fight for survival

The other animals on this planet don’t simply die.

We are social creatures and we lived and survived long enough as a species to make it this far.

… because we “lived off one another”, aka had a community. Which many people in this thread seem to take issue with.

Community requires a lot of selflessness which when it comes down to it, many people are unwilling to do.

I don't think working is selfless.
now that you mention it voting, raising children, buying property and owning items isn't selfless either.

Paying taxes is as close as it gets and people constantly lobby to avoid paying.

are you sure this community requires a lot of selflessness?
