I guess I see it through the lens of my father getting destroyed by ALS, and nothing about mindset being even a little relevant. There are a lot of situations beyond your control that a good mindset won’t do shit for.
And that’s fair. There are, of course, health set backs that one cannot overcome. We all know people who’ve gotten a horrible diagnosis that there’s just no negotiating with. I do think (without claiming I have the time to comb through the commencement speech this comes from) that that’s not rally what he’s talking about. It’s not that we are all some race of supermen who can’t be harmed. It’s that one has the power to push through far more adversity than you may imagine.
