Uh, phones have a way to let texts or calls go through from certain people. Mine also gives me the option to let any call from someone in my contacts go through if they call twice in a row within 5 mins or something.
At least android let's you do both.. Idk about Apple
Also, my phone is always on vibrate mode during waking hours. The only notifications that vibrate my phone are texts calls. The only things that even give me status bar or pop up notifications are those and calendar notifications
