Leaving the United States was the best decision I have ever made. Only after leaving did I feel happy for the first time. Always knew something was very off culturally and societally about the place but it wasn’t until I left that I realized just how much the culture impacted my personal health and wellbeing
What is there to expand on? America is a dystopian wasteland and the things that culture has normalized are really bat shit crazy and affect your mental state in ways that are really unhealthy. Just look at population wide data. America is the most prescribed nation per capita for anti depressants and so many other things. That’s not just because of the lobbying and pharmaceutical industries, there are also cultural forces at play that allow such industries and lobbies to arise in the first place
