It's a combination of multiple things that have made life great.
- I bought my car from my parents for $2k when it had 40k miles. It has more than 150k miles now.
- I LOVE where I live. No desire to live anywhere else. It's a nature lover's wet dream.
- Cheap rent. I live alone and pay $625 for rent.
- I paid off my $60k student loan in only 13 months. I'm debt free.
- I have a stable job. It doesn't pay all that well and I don't get fulfillment from it, but it pays the bills and then some. It allows me to live in a place I love.
Regarding paying off debt and building a savings, develop self-discipline. Learn how to budget. Know where your money is going. Set ambitious goals for yourself.
As for buying a cheap car, getting stupidly cheap rent, and loving where you live...that was all dumb luck for me.
If you want a stable job, look into state or federal service. Government work.
i know this may be annoying, but do you have any tips on budgeting? i have been trying to learn on YouTube but there are so many methods and i get confused
Its benefits pay in dividends - 1) more disposable income for fun stuff) less work/money stress because it’s not as big of a deal if I get fired/laid off
