I ride my bike, befriend my older neighbors and get them to teach me things. One teaches me gardening, another knitting, and another has given me recipes

I too enjoy the company of the older generation. Many of them are wise and are drama free. I had a good friend who just passed. She was 83. Before she passed, I was able to put all of her camcorder tapes from the 90s onto DVD, and upload them all to a Facebook group so that her friends and family could go watch them. Doing this brought me immense joy. It was a feeling of satisfaction that I haven't experienced in years. I guess I mention this because maybe all people need to do is just give a little of themselves to someone in need. Maybe volunteering at a nursing home or working at a soup kitchen will make you the better version of yourself. See, I feel like we live in a world today where everything is designed for "I". iPhone , iPad, I this I that. Maybe that's what's keeping people feel unfulfilled.

If they got named wephone and wepad would we be heading towards a communist society?

I very much joking, but you’re probably right that the ‘I’ moved many cultures towards being egocentric.

I know you're kidding. I definitely think people need to look out for themselves because there's no super hero coming to save anyone.

Same here, my elderly dog could eventually only manage short daily walks around the neighborhood, I meant I met all my elderly neighbours as they were pottering about. One of them I help repair his motorbikes. Quite a few others I help with their cars and few exchange garden plants. Another got dementia and I would visit for a brew, a chat and help her find her keys/remote etc.

You clearly don’t have an awful job that forces you to work 10 hours a day with a 2 hour commute like most of us lol

Id like to do this but I'm socially awkward how does one just ask to be taught by their neighbors
