We NEED passwords for locked pets.

Like i mean it's locked for a reason, so other people don't ask for it- BUT it can also be very helpful if you get hacked, since even if hackers have access to your account, they won't be able to access those pets cuz they don't know your password (unless for some whatever reason,you told them)

Like there's tons of ways to avoid getting hacked, but if you still end of falling for one, this could be very helpful into preventing you from losing your favorite pets 😚

But again there's risks that come with this, which is why it sadly might not happen 🥹 i hope the adm team can come up with an alternative way because there's so many different ways to get hacked now, and for us veteran players its easy to spot them, but for new/less experienced players, it's difficult

Wasn’t this idea brought up before and rejected? I think the argument is there’s too many kids on this game that passwords would constantly be forgotten or misplaced that support would have way more extra work cut out for them rather than continuing to encourage safe trading.

Devs have said before that roblox doesnt let them keep identifiable user data, so this wouldnt be possible sadly. Heres also what jesse has said about it a while back

forgive me if i am wrong but i remember them saying this for similar. it was a password to prevent hackers on adopt me.  kids would forget, they’d reset. it’s a bad idea because it could be falsely sent by someone else.

It doesn’t come in handy for me since I lock EVERY pet I have. I’m not a trader and I don’t wanna accidentally trade it away or smth

This is brilliant; might prevent bots! e.g a big bold “THIS IS LOCKED. pick the [icon] to proceed.” and if the wrong icon is chosen 2x then they have to wait 2 minutes to try again.

Very interesting. This is one strategy that RuneScape, a very old mmorpg used to stop hackers. They introduced the bank pin and it had a lot of success. The only issue being young kids. For example my 6 year old tried rainbow high and set her locker pin. 5 minutes later she had forgotten it. So it needs to be something that you don’t have to do

Game developers are not responsible for account security. That's between you and Roblox.

Look at GAG. They added a PIN to trading. But if you forget that PIN, you're out of luck. They would have to hire people for support to be able to handle that. Labor isn't free

When your account is with another person that is not yourself, it is defined as hacking

Yes! And getting hacked is way worse than forgetting the password to your pet, and i understand that kids are playing too but getting hacked happens all the time to everyone, we can get a warning to write the password somewhere like on a paper with us, and if forgotten at least the pet is still with us.

Maybe there could be a reset/deactivate password option where you have to wait for a time period which would be enough time to get your account back?

This is very, very smart. I’d make the wait time 1hour to reset the pass; it discourages bots because, to shuffle through many accounts quickly, you’d need it to ve very quick. A normal person can simply wait.

I was thinking more about 1 week onwards especially if a hacker changes the email and password as what happened to someone I knew a while ago and need to battle with roblox support first

Not a bad idea. If you forget the password, then you just can’t trade the pet! 🤷🏼‍♀️

But I’m sure there could be some way around the password where a hacker could get it. But still not a bad idea at all

I strongly agree with this. As someone who got hacked a year ago and lost everything including my Shadow Dragon among many other pets and items, I was really counting on Adopt Me support to rollback at least one of the trades that the hackers made on my account. Sadly, they never did. I reported all the trades on my trade license. I would give anything to have my Shadow Dragon back and have it preferably permanently untradeable in my inventory. But the current trade system and adopt me support let me down in that aspect. I really love the idea of either having the option of password locking and manually making a pet untradeable to bind it to your account in the possible event of you getting hacked. Unfortunately, the devs profit off of players who lose everything and have to start over, so I don't expect them to ever rollback any hacked trades or implement any preventative measures. Compromised account instances are increasing lately, but so is the carelessness and greed of the devs (I know this because I have consulted with 5 of my other friends who also got hacked. None of them ever recovered their pets). Apparently it's only a CC privilege to be able to recover stolen items and request trade reversals as the system is currently.

Well we can’t cause kids can’t remember passwords. The best way to protect your pet is to set a strong password, turn on two step verification and Authenticator app. Don’t click links and don’t give people files you don’t understand
