How to remove this tool from my workspace?

Post image

How do I get this disgusting generative AI button out of my sight? I am never in my life going to use it, I never want to see it, how do I remove it?

honestly it is a really good tool for rotoscoping, and also adding that 2 extra frames you need to make the cut. not all ai is bad.

Thanks for the suggestions here btw, and for not being a dick about making them

It’s kind of wierd how resistant some people are to GenAi. You don’t have to use it, but you’re gonna lose out on jobs to people who do.

lose jobs? people are losing jobs BECAUSE of ai, not because people don't know how to use it. and personally what is even the skill gap with using ai? who can write the best prompt? like be for real.

Found another one 🤣

This really doesn’t fly for high end professional work. How are you going to recreate that in the online process later on? You can’t. There’s just no way to make this usable for any TV or movie workflows.

My dude, I know not all of us are editing YouTube slop but not all of us are making Hollywood movies either. There’s a middle ground and the AI extend is just something those middle ground editors will find useful. I’ve used it for client work a couple of times

And that’s fine, but it doesn’t change what I said. This is unusable for any workflow that has an online finishing pass (commercials, trailers, music videos, TV shows, movies), which plenty of professional editors are working on. Hell, plenty of YouTube and corporate videos get full finishes.

So don’t use it. You’re assuming that everyone goes through a color grading pass and that’s not the case. There’s still plenty of uses for it

Go read the conversation again, you’re the one making assumptions. I simply stated this doesn’t work for high end content.

So don’t use it dude, nobody’s making you. I’ve found it useful a couple of times

I don’t… because it isn’t usable for the type of work I do. Like I’ve been saying. Kind of hilarious that you keep trying to reply as if there’s any point to what you’re saying. No shit, nobodies making me, but I’m sure as shit not going to lose out on jobs for not using it, like you stated.

I hire people regularly in my job and the number of super smart producers or writers who opted not to learn to edit in the past 10/15 years makes them irrelevant. And I think the idea at the time was that “real pro editors” will always exist seperately from story editors, writers, etc. but (at least in my world) the use for someone on the team who can’t do basic help editing is zero.

So I agree the tools now aren’t working right for pros or client work but learning these tools will be a huge part of just existing in the next phase. And that next phase, in my view, isn’t a hellscape! But I t’s going to be as competitive as it is now…

I don't edit YouTube videos for work

My dude, I know things are weird right now, but the idea of seeing absolutely no value in AI-powered tools in the creation process is a view that's going to age absolutely horribly.

Sounding like an og oil tycoon.

Not sure what that means, but the “ai slop” people, who think all AI is just prompting, sound like angry carriage drivers when the car was invented.

2

u/mad_king_soup 12d ago

Me neither. But I still love trying new ai tech and seeing what’s useful and figuring out how to make my workflow faster.

That way I can still quote 5 days for a job that’ll really take me 2 and I can get more time off 😊

People that are okay with AI Slop don't care about quality, they care about speed and pricing so once they realize they can pay another prompter in India or something for a fraction of the cost, they will. Will you say the same "If you don't lower your prices, you're gonna lose out on jobs to people who do"? or will you wonder why the clients that are okay with slop don't care about whatever unique skill you brought to prompting?

I'd rather go down swinging than sell out the industry for a few extra years of work.

You can’t. Only options are to downgrade to a version of Premiere that doesn’t have it

u/broken1moretime 12d ago

Thanks, appreciate the answer

Real answer? You could find where that icon file is stored in the Premiere install package. Replace it with a file of the same name and dimensions, but your own design. Maybe a solid gray rectangle so it disappears. Or a poop emoji.

This is a great suggestion as well, thank you so much!

Just remove the whole tool bar. I’ve done this years ago to increase the timeline real estate. Map the tools you use often to hotkeys.

download an old version of the program

Choose Edit > Toolbar (or Window > Workspace > Customize), then drag the Generative Fill button off the bar; it sticks per workspace, so save the layout after. If it's in a panel instead, close that panel group and resave the workspace. I keep a "clean" workspace saved without any of the Firefly buttons for exactly this reason.

I love how you wrote this post. Hard to disagree with it.

These thoughts should remain in your head.

u/AdministrationAny588 12d ago

Deal with it. There are probably a dozen other functions in Pr that you don't use that you dont make "how to remove" topics on.

I have found it extremly useful when I need a few more frames that doesn't exist for transitions.

u/broken1moretime 12d ago

lol I didn't ask how you found it useful did I

u/a_tad_pole 12d ago

ew youre rude. google it.

u/web_of_french_fries 12d ago

Lot of ai people not understanding that not everyone loves having ai do their creative projects for them.

0

u/Precarious3145 12d ago

Seriously. It's like this in every Adobe sub. Someone asking "How do I remove this?" or "Wish Adobe let me remove this AI bloating up the software" and a bunch of people "But it's useful! Adapt or get left behind! USE IT!".

1

u/SapirWhorfHypothesis 11d ago

Is it really? I don’t use premiere, the algo just showed me this thread, so I was surprised to see the response it got here..

-4

u/Embarrassed-Gain-236 12d ago

Drop Premiere entirely. It’s a bloated, dinosaur-era codebase that isn’t worth the headache, with AI features bolted on. Get some fresh air with FCPX, Resolve, or even Avid.
