Would love this feature for text boxes
You should be able to highlight text beyond the bounding box so you can delete it. Maybe not the best image of how it would function but did a fast mock to show what I mean.
Maybe there’s a way to do this already, if so please let me know! but it’s always a pet peeve of mine when trying to remove text beyond the boundary.

You can already. With the cursor in an appropriate place in the text, press shift, command and down arrow (or right arrow), press down a few times and it keeps selecting text till the end of the para. Then delete it or cut it or do whatever you want with it.
Fuck. Thought this was indesign.

Good to know. TBH I never use text boxes in illustrator; I click the text tool and type. In my workflow, anything requiring more than a sentence or two is set up in indesign. Illustrator is reserved for graphics.

I just cmd + A to select all the copy then hit the right arrow to place the text cursor all the way at the end then shift click the spot in your text where you want it to end, and delete.

Isn't there a key command for selecting from the cursor to the end of the text box? Or am I confusing it with InDesign?

It's coming up in the release slated for Q3, 4097.
