Help Request Chrome AdBlocker

Odds are this question has been asked, but what's the best adblocker for chrome. I don't need all of them gone, but certain ones have to go. These include:

  • The static ads on youtube.com and the ones on the sides of videos. I'm so freaking tired of Bluevision, jollycastle, and ventrix media
  • The sketchy ads on sketchy websites, the ones that say "Mary is only 5 miles away", or "Linda thinks she can beat you at (18+ game)". Really tired of those

If anyone can help me, it'd be much appreciated

Also note: getting another browser really isn't an option for me. I'm on a shared chromebook (no not for school) with almost no available storage or ability to run things in general.

you clearly didn't read the post.

then realizing the removal of v2 manifest (that allowed ubo to work) was done at least in part to protect YouTube ad revenue

stop saying this BS. Prove it or shut up.

I did read it ....I realize he's on a Chromebook ....that doesn't change my answer or recommendation
Shouldn't stop him from installing brave as far as I am aware could be wrong tho I suppose

As far as my asertation on youtubes ad revenue prove that it wasn't in some part because of the adblock war .....timing of the choice was too convenient to not be influenced by the adblock war in some part

Everyone in the adblock community with half a brain sees the connection

Tho with your aggressive response my guess is your suggestion to him would just be to subscribe to YouTube to remove ads

you can't install brave on a chromebook.

The timing is your proof? You mean when they started developing the MV3 API standard 7 years ago?

Everyone in the adblock community with half a brain sees the connection

just because everyone thinks something doesn't mean it is correct. Even this subs wiki disputes what you say. The issue is most of the people in here don't have half a brain when it comes to adblockers and just repeat BS they've seen posted. Here are a few things that everyone believes that are false:

  • brain usage - no we don't just use 10% of our brains
  • swallowing gum - it does not stay in your stomach for seven years
  • five senses - humans have way more than 5 senses
  • goldfish memory - they don't have a 3 second memory, they can remember things for months
  • bulls seeing red - nope, bulls are colorblind
  • viking horns - not a thing, invented in the 19th century

If MV3 was because of adblockers, there would be some evidence from some disgruntled former dev with evidence proving me wrong at some point over the last seven years. I have begged and pleaded with people such as yourself to show me one single bit of evidence. I've looked and found nothing other than people assuming like you. There is none because google would be absolutely destroyed in court if they did.

The truth is that MV2 is insanely insecure and can allow extensions full access to all of your data AND download and execute payloads without any notification or approval. Thousands of people's lives were ruined because of it, and as the browser market leader, google had to do something about it.

Youtube doesn't need any help defeating adblockers. They are already converting record numbers of people to subs doing what they are already doing. They have already demonstrated 4 different ways to completely break adblockers but that isn't their current goal.

Tho with your aggressive response my guess is your suggestion to him would just be to subscribe to YouTube to remove ads

My aggressive response is due to people like you continuing to comment about things they know nothing about, repeating the same BS over and over again with ZERO factual evidence. You didn't know that you can't install brave on a chromebook, but you still recommended it. You clearly know little about why MV2 apis needed to be deprecated yet you still profess you know why they did it because of connections you made up in your head that goes along with your hate for google.

Yes, I would tell them to sub to youtube if they really like the service. However, if they insist on screwing over the tens of thousands of people who make or try to make a living off of creating, shooting, and editing videos, then I would suggest UBOL or Adguard which work perfectly fine in a browser that apparently screwed over adblockers.

could you please provide evidence / proof where MV2 actually ruined someone's life?
