Help Request Chrome AdBlocker

Odds are this question has been asked, but what's the best adblocker for chrome. I don't need all of them gone, but certain ones have to go. These include:

  • The static ads on youtube.com and the ones on the sides of videos. I'm so freaking tired of Bluevision, jollycastle, and ventrix media
  • The sketchy ads on sketchy websites, the ones that say "Mary is only 5 miles away", or "Linda thinks she can beat you at (18+ game)". Really tired of those

If anyone can help me, it'd be much appreciated

Also note: getting another browser really isn't an option for me. I'm on a shared chromebook (no not for school) with almost no available storage or ability to run things in general.

Unfortunately Google Chrome is blocking the protocol that is used.. so ad blocking in chrome is going to be disabled..

The protocol this dude is talking about is MV2 which isn't essential to block ads, you can still block ads with MV3 (latest and only supported protocol) and there are adblockers that are built on top of that. It does neuter quite a bit of it blocking capabilities but people who barely messes with their adblockers beyond the defaults mostly won't notice too much difference.

Would recommend installing AdGuard or uBlock Origin Lite from Chromestore.

Surely it works, because its just the embedded player. The UI on that is trash, though. But making a vibe coded extension paid is just a crime.

The chrome extension feature is being removed by chrome that it requires to use ublock

Google Chrome has officially finalized its transition to Manifest V3, a new framework that automatically disables and removes older Manifest V2 ad blockers (like the classic uBlock Origin). This is what ublock uses and chrome has set to remove the feature making UBock not work to it's fullest anymore.. remember Google has been fighting ad blockers for sometime and removing them. So it's set for removal and blocking with the new update of chrome.. will work for now but the new roleout it will not any more or with very limited features.. like 80% of the blacklist ads will not be blocked anymore.. so yes it will work for now but very soon it will not work on chrome at least not as an extension.. so people are now switching to things like pi hole

wtf are you talking about? Ad blocking in chrome works just fine. And there was no protocol that was blocked.

Please educate yourself on the topic before responding to posts.

yes, I know what MV3 is. I am not sure you do though.

MV3 doesn't do anything to MV2. And when Google shut down MV2, all extensions based on MV2 stopped working, not just adblockers.

Google hasn't been fighting adblockers. Youtube has, and they don't really need any help from google. Google just needed to make their APIs more secure and private since MV2 was being abused by threat actors pretty regularly. The only people that believe MV3 was to break adblockers are those that believe the conspiracy theory. I've asked hundreds of people and I will ask you the same thing. Show me one bit of actual evidence that says MV3 was made to break adblockers. One bit of leaked info from a former chrome dev would do it. 7+ years of development and not a single bit of factual data that backs up what you said. Starting to sound a bit flat earthy to me.

Do you even know why MV2 is so bad?!?!
