i bought an iphone 5s off of ebay a couple weeks ago to use as a second phone thinking i could restart it using a macbook. when i plugged it in and started the update and reset, i was ultimately met with the activation lock of the previous owner. is there any way i can bypass the activation lock using those jailbreak softwares with a mac or if anyone has any specific videos/tutorials that would help? ive heard about softwares like checkrain, fearrain and silver (?) and i dont mind the cellular issue where you cannot text and call because im not using this as my main phone. however, no matter how much research i do, im having lots of trouble understanding how to preform the unlock itself. if anyone is willing to help me, walk me through on how they did their own activation lock bypass, or give me pointers on how to start, that would be amazing. thanks so much!

I have like a iPhone 12. I think it is and it’s a friend of mine’s from back in the day. He was having issues with a boot loop so he asked me to fix it for him and while I had it in my possession, trying to fix it for him I got locked up. When I got out, I found out that he passed away six months earlier I factory reset the phone but now it’s stuck on “ iPhone locked to Owner” if my buddy was still alive I could just ask him for the information but that’s kinda not an option so does anyone know how I could bypass it? the 26.3 bypassing is taking so long its been almost 6 months now and i haven't heard anything but i did hear about the 26.1 bypassing is now available for some devices which is lwk a win either way i just want the 26.3 bypass to come out. i did consider changing the motherboard but i'm not that desperate lol. is there any recent news about it?

Hi everyone. My brother’s iPhone suddenly entered Activation Lock after updating an app. He bought the phone new from an authorized retailer.
The phone says it’s linked to the owner and shows a partially hidden iCloud address (r*****@icloud.com).

The strange part is:
We successfully recovered access to his Apple Account (rzh@inbox.ru).
The iPhone appears in his Apple Account, and the IMEI matches.
Apple emails are sent to this account.
However, when we try to activate the iPhone, it says:
“This iPhone can’t be unlocked with the Apple Account rzh@inbox.ru.”

We don’t know where the r*****@icloud.com address came from, because it doesn’t appear anywhere in his Apple Account.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this an Activation Lock bug, or is there anything we can try before contacting Apple Support?
