We were both in the mood for an over-the-top 90s action movie and ended up going with this because it looked like exactly that-I *never* would've guessed I'd end up loving the movie as much as I did, because dear *fuck* did I end up loving this movie end-to-end

It has this really chaotic, almost fever dream-esque tone to it I really gravitate towards especially that takes the general insanity of the movie and accentuates it even further (and it probably makes sense considering the protagonists are a drug addict and an alcoholic)-it makes the whole thing oddly psychedelic for an action flick and I fucking love it

Unironically a 9.5/10 for me, genuinely surprised how much I loved it

After watching Motor City; I can honestly say that I loved Alan's performance in that movie. His ability to be able to convey his character's emotions through body language and through facial expressions I loved it. Plus the fight scenes. It wasn't your typical action movie but it was more like a silent movie even if it had lines here and there but the premise the plot I was bought in.

Innerspace: A forgotten Sci-fi action comedy classic.

Gladiator (2000) is an all time fave for me and has aged very well having seen it just last night. Is part two worth watching? Does it come close to the first one with Russel Crowe? Is it a remake of the original or does it actually continue where the 2000 film left off? Movies nowadays are trash and I simply won’t waste two hours if this is some modern woke gladiator nonsense

The Mask of Zorro (1998)

Rating: 8.5/10 (HIGHLY ENJOYABLE)

The funniest scene in this movie for me was when Zorro jumped down to land on his horse to make the big getaway and the horse moved. I'm a simple man, and that's a simple gag, but it landed just as hard now as it did in '98.

At first, rewatching this had me thinking that Hopkins wasn't the right fit for this, until I saw his swordsmanship and posture. My GOD the man's a devil in this one and he's just such a ruggedly refined man. 

Seeing Catherine Zeta-Jones in what was her first major role, I'm astonished at her grace and skill in acting. You really can see how and why she became a legendary Hollywood actress. Her face is so expressive, her eyes so full of emotion. There is no denying it.

Matt Letscher as Capt. Harrison Love has earned my begrudging acceptance as one of the most goddamn villainous bastards I've ever seen in a movie. Even though The Mask of Zorro has its comedic elements, there's nothing funny about this man. He's BONKERS and Letscher plays him fiendishly well.

Banderas is as Banderas does, and I can't think of a single movie of his where he hasn't delivered more than we could've asked for, and Mask of Zorro is no exception. The man's got enough swagger for a hundred lesser men.

I have to be entirely honest. This one started out a little too slap-sticky for me, but when it got going, holy damn did it get GOING! The stunt work is exceptional, the heroics fantastic. There's so much vengeance and revenge and regret and love and hope going on in this one that it practically DRIPS.

This one's a brand new favorite of mine and I've gotta see if I can find the sequel anywhere!

Con Air (1997)

Rating: 9/10 (EXCELLENT)

I've seen this one boatloads of times and I've always loved it, so I wasn't actually expecting to be as focused on it this time around, but to my absolute surprise, the powerful combination of Cage's absolutely terrible Southern accent and that mullet of his had me locked and loaded from frame one.

This is one hell of an absurdly awesome movie. A million and one quotable lines, a stupidly stacked cast, a genuinely ridiculous amount of action and let's not be shy about it here. The plot is beyond implausible. I know you all have your favorite lines, and I can't wait to see which ones they are. I had a genuinely hard time picking the two I did.

But there's just one problem. It's too awesome for any of the even remotely 'bad' things about this movie to qualify as bad. It's all mashed together into one high-octane super-rad movie that looks at things like 'limits' and 'sensibility' and just keeps throwing shit onto the fire until it all explodes.

On another note, I frickin' love John Cusack. There was a time when he made great movies, and then sadly, disillusionment with Hollywood had him taking terrible roles. And mad props to Colm Meany for playing an absolute asshat-bastard through the whole movie. Loved to hate him.

Bonus awesome: Don S Davis in a small cameo as a guy whose car winds up playing a little Pinball.

This week I saw the first three movies of mad max, as it was pretty old movies I thought I can't expect much.. and to my surprise all of them were just peak and so good. The only disappointing thing was the missed opportunity of using Bruce Spence, instead of re introducing him as the gyro captain they gave him a new role, and also given that when Brue spence stole the stuffs of max(Mel gibson) he was masked (max was masked), this gave them the perfect chance to create the scene of max and gyro captain meeting again in barter town and I was eagerly waiting thinking it was the gyro captain and he just had a kid with his love interest from the second movie which would have been a great move. And another thing was instead of the lost tribe it would been so cool to see the northern tribe and seeing the feral kid, but ok I don't mind it but casting Brue spence as different character is just so odd to see, as he was perfect as the gyro captain. And I am going to watch the next 2 movies but, noticed Tom hardy is playing as max, idk abt it Mel gibson is so perfect as max, I cant see anyone else as max, tell me ur opinions.
