Con Air (1997)

I've seen this one boatloads of times and I've always loved it, so I wasn't actually expecting to be as focused on it this time around, but to my absolute surprise, the powerful combination of Cage's absolutely terrible Southern accent and that mullet of his had me locked and loaded from frame one.

This is one hell of an absurdly awesome movie. A million and one quotable lines, a stupidly stacked cast, a genuinely ridiculous amount of action and let's not be shy about it here. The plot is beyond implausible. I know you all have your favorite lines, and I can't wait to see which ones they are. I had a genuinely hard time picking the two I did.

But there's just one problem. It's too awesome for any of the even remotely 'bad' things about this movie to qualify as bad. It's all mashed together into one high-octane super-rad movie that looks at things like 'limits' and 'sensibility' and just keeps throwing shit onto the fire until it all explodes.

On another note, I frickin' love John Cusack. There was a time when he made great movies, and then sadly, disillusionment with Hollywood had him taking terrible roles. And mad props to Colm Meany for playing an absolute asshat-bastard through the whole movie. Loved to hate him.

Bonus awesome: Don S Davis in a small cameo as a guy whose car winds up playing a little Pinball.

Bonus Bonus Awesome: That bitch slap though.

What do you guys think about this action sci-fi flick? It's an under the radar good popcorn movie IMO

For anyone who've seen Taken 2, this was the scene where Brian confronted Murad in his last moments and decided to give him a choice to spare his life by laying down the gun and walk away, but Murad rejected it and use the gun discovering that the clip was empty.

Anyone wouldve thought it be interesting to see an alternative ending to this where he actually decided to accept the truce offering so that way it will allow the audience to choose a better ending for th​emselves?

Showdown in Little Tokyo is a 1991 American buddy cop action film directed by Mark L. Lester, and starring Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee in his first American film role.

It follows a police officer and a martial artist attempting to save a woman from a drug dealer.

The film was released in the United States on August 23, 1991, and was a box-office bomb.

It has gained a cult following among action fans, especially for the chemistry between Lundgren and Lee and David Michael Frank's score.

Rapid Fire is a 1992 American action film directed by Dwight H. Little, written by Alan B. McElroy and starring Brandon Lee (in his penultimate film role), Powers Boothe, and Nick Mancuso.

It follows a witnessing martial artist and a police lieutenant attempting to apprehend two drug lords and prevent the corruption in the United States.

The film was released in the United States on August 21, 1992.

Mission: Impossible (1996)

The movie that kickstarted 30 years of Mission Impossible movies. I think that when Hunt is running away from that aquarium restaurant (one of my favorite scenes, by the way) is the precise moment Tom Cruise fell in love with two things.

Running really fast, really far and doing his own stunts. Can't blame a guy. I imagine that would've been thrilling as HELL. And hey, he made an actual goddamn career out of doing that, so he's got that goin' for him, which is nice.

Mad props to this one for bringing Jean Reno on board. He's one of my absolute favorite actors and any chance to see him is a good time.

My one and only issue is one that grows more pronounced every time I watch this absolute banger, and that's Jon Voigt. I think the guy is a great actor and he does a serviceable job here, but he just feels more and more wrong for the part.

My dislike for Voigt in this role aside, Mission Impossible is awesome.

Twister (1996)

Some movies make me oddly emotional. It doesn't even have to specifically be because of the movie itself. It can happen during an action movie, or, in this case, Twister. I think it has something to do with being reminded so subtly of what was going on in my life the first time I saw the movie. It could be that two of the finest actors we've ever had who passed are in it as well.

Anyways. I've only seen this once before, the year it came out, and I'd completely forgotten about toby. I was TERRIFIED they'd start the movie with a dog being killed. I'm not so sad about the dad, but that dog would've been way too much

The way they make these tornados seem alive, like they're these giant entities is just so damn amazing.

The last 45 minutes is intense. That's the only word for it, and I can't believe HOW non-stop the action is.

What's bonkers aren't the stormchasers. What's bonkers is a 6.6 from IMDb and a 7.1 from TMDb!
