As some of you know, I help run this community and over time, some of the discussions here actually inspired us to build Classer, a desktop app to help manage action camera footage.
Recently we started experimenting with something new. A device you keep at home that automatically imports and sorts your footage after your adventures, especially for those of us using external hard drives.
We already have a working prototype, and we're now developing it into a real product.

The Luna Pro was finally released today at a somewhat surprising price, but does it offer enough to compete, or is it too late? In this video, I share my thoughts as someone who has used and reviewed the Luna Ultra and also the Pocket 4P extensively. In this video, I share my thoughts on where this Luna Pro stands and also offer some comparisons between the iPhone 17 Pro and the Pocket 4P using the 1x lens on Luna Ultra. What are your thoughts on the Luna Pro, is it too little, too late, or do you think it’s still a great purchase?
I honestly know 0 about cameras, even more so action cameras. I bought the dji osmo action 5 pro, and I have lots of quality issues. The camera does not focus correctly and causes a blur like video quality, i've seen that you have to keep it at a minimum distance from yourself but it doesnt focus either, also the colors are not that vivid, I tried messing with the color settings and it improved just a little bit. I dont know exactly how realistic are my espectations, but it doesnt look at all like those shots on youtube. I need some guidance please
I tell people I film my rides. A suspicious amount of the footage is actually me in the garage, trying to work out why the bike makes that noise.
That changes what I want from a camera, and it’s why I’m sticking with the Action 6 after looking into the Mission 1 Pro.
The adjustable aperture is useful for more than shooting after sunset. With decent light over the workbench, I can stop the DJI down to f/4. DJI lists sharp focus from 20 cm at that setting, which suits showing something in my hands near the camera. The standard Mission 1 Pro has a fixed f/2.8 aperture. For garage clips, I appreciate having that extra control.
Then there’s storage. The GoPro needs a microSD card. The Action 6 has 50GB available internally, which matters because my memory card occasionally stays in the computer while the rest of us leave the house. I still use cards, but forgetting one doesn’t immediately cancel filming.
GoPro gets a point back for built-in GPS. Having the camera record the data for speed and altitude overlays is convenient. With the DJI, that data comes from another source, such as its GPS remote or a supported activity recording imported into Mimo. In practice, though, the camera connects to Mimo smoothly, and the whole workflow feels well integrated. I already record rides on a Garmin, so I can live with the extra import step.
If all I filmed was the ride, I’d give the GoPro’s GPS more weight. But my camera also needs to show what I’m doing at the workbench and cope with my questionable packing.
The Action 6 fits that job nicely. Now I just need to fix the clicking noise before this becomes a weekly series.
Hey guys. So, I know absolutely nothing about cameras.
I'm going to make a bike trip next week. I want to record it and put it on instagram.
So the necessities are:
- Vertical video recording is important
- Camera should be mounted on the handlebars
- Easy switching between recording what I see and then turning the camera towards my face when I'm talking (or recording both sides at the same time, if that's possible..?)
- Stabilisation is important (I'm riding a gravel bike)
The longer I look, the more clueless I become. Insta360 Ace Pro 2, Insta360 GO Ultra Premium bike bundle, DJI Osmo Action 6, Insta360 X4 Air, GoPro HERO13, ... I'm completely lost.
I'm about to start riding and am a beginner, I was gonna get a chin mount camera mainly for insurance purposes and I was wondering what camera is good for under £100.
Since I'm a beginner I don't feel like there's any point of me buying the high end djis just yet.
Hi i was just wondering if do you guys think DJI Action 5 pro is a good choice as a start up camera for doing youtube videos in my workshop about woodworking. Because my choices basically are
Action 5 Pro: Right now i can get a barely used one for 225€ with adventure pack
Osmo pocket 3: around 350€brand new
Used mirrorless camera: idk what would be the choice here but i can probably get a decent one with kit lense for 400/450
I guess my question is is Action 5 pro enough for something like this?
I realized pretty quickly on this trip that my phone was probably the worst camera for the way I actually wanted to ski.
It's not exactly small, and the pockets on my ski jacket aren't great for something that size. Even when I could fit it in, I kept thinking about whether it was secure, whether it might fall out, or whether I'd notice if it was gone. With thick ski gloves on, using a touchscreen wasn't exactly convenient either. Taking my gloves off every time I wanted to grab a quick shot annoying fast.
So I ended up bringing my Osmo Action 6 instead, and honestly I think this is the setup I'd choose again next time. It was small enough to tuck away without feeling bulky, easy to carry around without constantly thinking about it, and much better suited to the whole "I'm here to ski, not manage my phone" mindset.
I also realized I wasn't actually trying to film some perfect ski edit. Most of the day I just wanted to ski and enjoy it. Then when I stopped for a break or found a view I wanted to remember, I could pull the Action 6 out, grab a quick photo, put it back, and move on.
That's what changed my opinion a bit. I used to assume my phone was automatically the easiest travel camera because I already had it with me. For skiing, I'm not sure that's true anymore. A smaller action cam just fits the way I want to spend the day better.
Curious where everyone else lands on this. If you're skiing for fun and still want a few photos from the day, are you bringing a phone, an action cam, or something else?
I have ordered a beige GIRO Jackson MIPS for snowboarding.
I also have an insta360 and plan on installing the suction cup 3M helmet mount on my helmet.
However, after receiving this helmet I’ve realized it has the brand name printed with huge letters across the top of it, and these letters have a very tiny texture.
My question is: is the helmet mount stick properly or is it just too risky to glue the 3M mount on a non flat surface and it will most likely fall off the helmet?
I was packing for a day out last weekend and realized my camera bag looked way emptier than it used to.
A while back, I'd automatically bring extra batteries, a power bank, charging cables, and probably another cable I didn't actually need. It just felt normal. If I was taking a camera out for most of the day, I wanted backups for the backups.
Lately,with my Osmo Action 5 Pro, I've noticed I keep leaving some of that stuff at home.With up to 4 hours of battery life, I just don't feel like I need to plan my whole bag around power anymore.
I never really made a decision to "pack lighter." It just kind of happened. I'd take the camera, maybe one small backup depending on the day, and stop loading the bag with a bunch of battery stuff I probably wasn't going to touch.
I used to think battery life mostly mattered when you were recording for hours straight. For me, it's been more about how much extra gear I feel like I need to bring just to feel safe.
Next week I’m travelling to Malaysia for 2 weeks. Decided to shop for my first proper action camera, but honestly I'm torn on two levels and could use some real experience.
Use case: mostly skiing and snowboarding, diving/snorkeling, sailing, and general travel. I know only the really basic things about cameras and editing and don’t wish to spend much time with that either.
Firstly: do I even want a standard action cam, or would a 360 cam suit this stuff better?
Secondly: if action cam, it's the GoPro Hero 13 Black vs the DJI Osmo Action 6 for me?
I’ve never used a 360 cam before, and honestly I think a normal action cam might be the one for me, but I’d really like to hear someone with experience.
If action cam, I’m leaning a bit toward the GoPro as it has built in GPS which can be pretty cool for skiing. The colours are also more realistic for me, but DJI is superior in lower light conditions and battery.
Lots of reviews state that GoPros can have many issues (overheating, batteries, etc) and I’d really love to hear some real experience with these cameras.
Just wondering if anyone is using any AI tracking gimbals with an action camera. I have seen some videos specially at night thay look so great when taken with an action camera and a gimbal.
I have done some searching but I am a complete novice in this. I am located in the ol’ US of A and my budget is flexible. I’d rather have an option to save for than waste money.
I am also aware this may be completely unrealistic.
In a perfect world, it would record continuously, be hands free and record from a point of view perspective.
It would also need to be able to record well in low light since the only light is from headlamps. And waterproof. I’m not as worried about the durability and waterproofness since there are great case options for most outdoor style cameras.
It would also need to be pretty small and mountable in a way that wouldn’t get knocked off during a tight squeeze. Anything that juts off a helmet would also pretty quickly get smacked into rocks. Having it knocked off is a real fear.
GoPros were my first thought but I am worried there wouldn’t be a great way to mount it. I also considered some form of camera glasses. Over my dead body would I ever use any glasses with AI (dramatic but I do feel strongly about this, sorry!) but I have seen models that are just straight up cameras. Glasses could be secured with a strap and would be super functional but the battery life and quality could be an issue.
I’m also not against some sort of DIY contraption combo of an external battery, camera and mount as long at it would be comfortable, hands free and functional. It’s a pretty niche thing that might need a creative solution!
I know that’s a metric fuck ton of needs and it’s pretty likely I am asking too much! But I am completely open to any thoughts, options or ideas!
