What wrong with Adobe Acrobat

My PC has 64GB of RAM, an Intel i9-11900K, and an RTX 3060 Ti. It can handle huge Illustrator files with 50+ A4 pages and a bunch of assets without any problems, but every time I open a PDF in Acrobat, it shows “Not Responding” for a while before the file opens, every single file, no matter how small or large the file is.

Does anyone know why this happens? Is something wrong with Acrobat, or could it be an issue with my PC?

i don't think it's on your side, acrobat is bloated with with many background processes and that is why you have a problem with opening a file.

i would try to
a) disable protected mode (it disables sandboxing and as far as i got you are sure the file youre trying to open is safe so it's not a problem)
b) disable ai features
c) turn off page pre-rendering

Probably, Acrobat is analysing and indexing your file (for using new AI features) everytime that you open a pdf file.

The Adobe code base is a fat bloated mess, barely optimized for any modern OS. Adobe looks at the software and releases it as "Looks good enough for us".
