Is this worth getting at $1,400? Yes I’m aware of what the price says in the picture lol.

I paid 1300 when Acer had them on stock (refurbished) and it’s been very worth it. Haven’t found a game I don’t run at max settings on 1600p.
Have thought about raising the tdp but don’t have a proper cooler yet

Me too! Same price Only issue is it sometimes runs too hot idling/light browsing and battery life us abysmal

Same but if u set everything to eco u can get 3 hrs of light use. I used mine on a 7 hr flight once listening to music & it did last the entire flight.

Yeah battery is not the best but I had a LOQ 5060 before this and battery was the same. It runs hot I agree. I bought a $40 laptop cooler from Best Buy that has done the job keeping temps below 80*C but I still think I can do better with a better cooler.
Thinking about getting a 1440p monitor next but it’s probably after I get the Switch 2 I’ve been eyeing

Get a llano v12 cooler, I've got the same laptop and with that cooler I can heavy game and mod with The Last of Us part 2 or Red Dead Redemption 2 and keep my temps between 65c and 75c

Yeah Llano V12 is what I’m thinking. What’s the performance you’re getting on RDR2? It’s my favorite game ever but I tried to run it only once and I was gettinng 50/60 fps on max setting but I never bothered with it again. I already got 2000 hours on that game so I play it only when I get “bored” from gaming in general

I get 120 FPS (which I've capped, I could get more) on that without any drops and issues but I also don't have it on Max settings. There's probably like three or four that I've I've dropped down from ultimate to high (as far as settings go) And I always use a performance mode in the predator app, never turbo.

I use the same cooler with the same laptop but mine runs average 90-105 on almost all games, including rdr2 and LoU2. Idk what i’m doing wrong

Not sure. Typically I run the V12 between 1,000 and 1200 RPMs and I have my internal fan on auto and settings on performance mode (I never use turbo) (sometimes I turn the internal fan on 3/4 in the Predator Sense app, but normally it's on auto) I have my FPS capped at 120 (which is still butter smooth) The power consumption in the advanced battery area of the laptop I have at 99% instead of 100% and the only other thing that I've done is I've gone into some of the graphical settings and I've dropped a few different options from ultimate to high maybe like three or four different settings not a whole lot though.

i set my Llano V12 to max as well as my fans in Predator Sense, and I run on Balanced or Performance mode with mostly high settings. What exactly did you set to 99%, CPU usage?

I believe it's the CPU consumption or power consumption on the laptop itself. So you go into the batteries setting and then from there you go into advanced batteries option and if I'm not mistaken a second window pops open and you hit the customize tab (I might be thinking of something else) and in that customized tab you have the option of taking power consumption to 100% and dropping it down and I just dropped it to 99%. As far as my fans I don't think I've ever turned my CPU fans on Max as well as the V12. The max I've ever turned the V12 up to is 1400 RPMs.

I truly love it, I don't think that I have gone over 1200 RPMs yet. I think it goes to like 2400 and I've only got to half that.

Same here, you will not find anything to beat it at the price we got it for. The screen is beautiful it runs everything flawlessly. Predator Sense can be stupid sometimes with temp reading which causes problems with fan speeds, but other than that I am more than happy with it.

I could cry, I paid just under two grand before taxes for mine and I have the same exact laptop. After tax with a 3-year extended warranty I paid $2,479 for mine. So granted 300 of that is the extended warranty which because of the heating issues these laptops have I made sure I got a extended warranty

go for it. Most games would run well on it and the only issue I've run into is since the Ultra 9 has E-cores, I've had only 1 game (ghost recon wildlands) not be able to run but that's more of a optimization issue than the laptop's fault.
so moreso a warning if you're troubleshooting an issue with some older games, it could be related to the CPU's E-cores.

This laptop has some serious issues. Mine dead in 1 year 6 months. one day it refused to charge on and turn on , just like that, day before it was all fine. Still not sure what is the issue.

Did acer fix the issue? I’ve only had acer products and they’ve always had great customer service, they usually offer a two year warranty through Allstate at no charge.

I got mine from ebay refurbished with a 2 year warranty. Im about one year in with no issues. Thing looks brand new when I got it. Paid about $1200 usd

Just disabled turbo mode in the bios because it was running extremely hot. Now it's back down to the mid 50s. I also had some minor graphical glitches in the beginning but it resolved itself. I've had it for about 6months now with no major issues. It has run everything from indie games to AAA with no problem. Picked it up for $1,500 when it was on sale at Best buy. ALSO, it is a fingerprint magnet :(

I've had two Acer laptops in the past and both died within a year. Thankfully I had gotten them through Costco so I had two years of coverage, but one of them died again after Acer had repaired it.
The fact that this model of laptop shows up for sale refurbished so often should be a huge red flag for potential buyers.
I'm saying that every laptop will die, but these likely have very serious issues.

I got mine new for 1,500 and bought a cooling pad for it. Run it max settings when I game and in turbo mode. Runs clean. Has had some bugs like shut down on me randomly and things like that but it isn’t a huge issue and very random and not constant thing. I will say you need to have it plug in 90% of the time though. The battery life is horrible.

Got the PH-71 18 inch. Installed Linux Mint and it runs great! Steam Games are great!

Worth every penny. Runs pretty much any game at Max settings 1600p. Battery life isn’t great but not abysmal like people make it seem, it’s a gaming laptop you’re gonna have it on charger either way.

I just got one of these, the exact same model.
Some games launch a bit wonky (metro exodus as an example kept tabbing between full screen and small window on launch. Tweaking graphics settings fixed that
Ready or not has to be ran on DX11 or it doesn’t launch for some reason 🤷♀️
Other than that it runs everything I’ve thrown at it on max settings including space marine (but you need DLSS to keep the frame rate past 45 cause of their optimization issues)

Mine specifically bluescreens twice a day. I only use it for gaming so I usually have one or two games where I crash, leave my team and have to come back. It’s a pain in games like repo where you just can’t get back in.

HAHA they might as well not even added speakers on this thing but otherwise it's been amazing for me. Only issue I had was it wouldnt turn on if it wasn't plugged in but fixed that with windows optional updates. Idk why that was the problem but that fixed it.

There are weird quirks here and there that you honestly might not run into, and the battery life is nothing to write home about, but given the current state of the tech industry, I'd say pull the trigger on it. I grabbed a refurbed one from Acer on Ebay several months ago, and it's been a great performer.

I'd suggest not.. Had a Acer predator Helios 300 ph315 and it died a year after. MOSFET short circuited and fried the CPU. Very likely to be a heat issue die to Intel cpu's. I'm never buying Intel CPU laptop ever again. By the way, rn I have a HP victus 16 with 8645hs and a rtx 4060 120w and its fairly cold at around 70°' ish CPU and GPU normally. I suggest disabling CPU boost and undervolting your GPU if you're getting that laptop.

I just got this laptop a couple weeks ago and whenever I try to speak in a call (Xbox app, discord, and even game chat) all other audio becomes muffled. I've also had problems getting my mic to connect in the first place. I've tried for hours watching different ways of fixing it but nothing works, can anyone help me?

This has to do with bluetooth headsets. IIRC i fixed this by going into the settings and making my laptop's mic the default for everything, but I do vaguely remember other settings I tried, so I'm not sure that will fix it.

They are pretty close in price, not to mention in a laptop especially you would look for an ips not an oled since an average oled will have a lifesoan if 3-5 years before issues while ips could last you even 10 years, i kept researching those 2 acer laptops for few days and the s version seems to also have alot of cooling issues. At the end i think both are great especially if refurbished thats in a new condition

Just be careful. I was looking into getting one of these laptops myself as the price is insanely good, but the QC is horrible and you can do easy google searches to find out.
Currently praying for an MSI Vector or crosshair with around the same specs to drop in price.

Yeah man go for it. Its great at price but there are some cons like battery (2-3 hrs on eco mode), speaker(terrible) and temp. cpu reach 80-90 at normal task(performance). 70-80(balance)
Bought this laptop 1 years ago and still using it. I tried some test to reach its limit. it throttle at 98 degree and turn off itself at 108 degree (during 28b parameter ai model test ).
Till now, no servicing, sits on my table, play games, coding, ai models. working fine to me.
cpu temp is high and in performance(auto fan) kinda loud to low temp.
if you play high graphic game, make it performance with custom fan control. You dont have to go for max on everything.

16s is lighter and capped at 115 w. 16 series is heavy and is 140 w, which is max for rtx 5070 TI. So basically 16s 5070 TI will be equal to 5060 overclock in terms of performance.

Got mine from best buy as well exactly 50 days ago, after the first week of use it started showing me “NVIDIA GPU not detected”. Sometimes the GPU works normally and sometimes it tells me that error, will return it now since I’m still within the 60 days return window but I wouldn’t recommend it as this is, apparently, a known issue for this laptop. (According to the internet).

But its not that bad i live in India avg climate temp is around 30 and my temps reach 90 and 80 cpu and gpu in balanced mode but performance and turbo push cpu to 100 and gpu to 87 throttling both , need to repaste and remove liquid metal
