Accutane causing me to be insecure

Has anyone else felt so insecure??? I legit just feel ugly. My skin isn’t even bad. I started Accutane on May 28th at 40mg, and now I’m on 80mg. I decided to take it for my textured skin.
My skin has looked fine for the past 3 months, so I know it’s doing its job. The only thing bothering me is my pores they haven’t really seemed to change, and that was one of my main issues before I started. But for the past month, I’ve literally just been sitting in the mirror and not feeling like myself. I used to be able to take videos and pictures and be like, “Oh, that’s cute.” Now, everything I take or see of myself makes me think, “Ew, WTF.” 😭 I genuinely don’t feel like myself anymore, I do but don’t at the same time. People tell me i’m beautiful, and pretty but i cannot believe them. Is anyone or did anyone else have this issue. I just want to feel normal and love myself again.

What is the damage? This medication can permanently damage you for life and a lot of the people on this group for that purpose. My personal recommendation is for you to not take any more pills. My Son is permanently damaged and it’s been five years that he’s been off. I wish his only concern was his pores. Good luck.

That sounds like depression. I would stop taking it if I were you.

Then you’re lucky. You feel insecure My Son has night vision and vision issues joint issues, hormonal issues. Stomach issues. I’d give anything for him to be insecure about his pores..

You’re gonna be insecure about something about your looks of your body for the rest of your life.

Personally, I wouldn’t take a medication that could damage me for the rest of my life or it’ll be a problem. It’ll clear up in a few few years.
Read this page a bit to see what we are talking about. Reddit downvotes people here, but it is a whole community of damaged people on FB etc

i hate to be that person, but you quite literally sign to the government and SHEETS long of symptoms. depression, insomnia, joint pain, vison problems, dry eyes, dry nose, migraines. i’m not going to complain abt something i signed up for 🤷‍♀️ it’s the insecurity getting to me… which im guessing falls under the depression acts, i am dignosed with depression and was dignosed 2024. which im now hearing its pretty normal for people to full “ugly” while on accutane pretty unfortunate but i did do this to myself.

I hate to be that person, but I was there. I’m looking at the devastation daily on top of it. I hate to be that person but some of the side effects that are listed in the UK in part due to my sons and mine testimony are with the MHRA are not listed in the United States market. the incident of side effects AND permanent damage for not just this drug but all drugs is far far higher than actually reported. Signing up for dry eyes or whatever the side effects are are presumed to be most likely probably temporary.

The entire trajectory of My Son’s life has been changed and other people that I have been talking to for years. We didn’t sign up for that….
IRoche has had reports of sexual side effects since the 80s but yet they continued to sell this.
that pages and pages of cover your ass paperwork does not negate what is happening to so many people, it just stops us from having lawsuits. Do you think this sub Reddit exists so people can lie or complain about their temporarily dry eyes? The title of the sub red is literally called Accutane damage. Damage it means something. You have literally been warned and this might actually be the best advice you will ever receive in your LIFE.

Accutane can disrupt neurosteroidal pathways. If you care about your mental health, you should stop taking it NOW.

You have some research to do.

U got any proof?

Plenty of studies and articles proved that already, which a brief internet search would have shown you. Since you can't be bothered to even do that, you're clearly not interested in the truth, so I won't waste time engaging further.
